Nikki P.O.V.

I slowly wake to the smell of bacon eggs and pancakes. I open my eyes and let the light streaming through my red and black stained glass window slowly wake my drooping eyes. My room is small and adorned in my favorite colors, read and black. My bed has black sheets on it and my walls are painted red with small black flowers tword the floor. My desk is just solid red and on it are my school books and homework. I stayed up pretty late last night working on it. I need to make sure to put it in my backpack for tomorrow. I swing my legs over my bed and look at the time. I'm suprised that its 5am, normaly my parents arnt up this early. Then, I remeber, ITS MY BIRTHDAY! yes, I forgot it was birthday, ever since my sister was born, I think very little in regards to my own self. I get out of bed and walk into the bathroom connected to my room. I take a small shower, brush my teeth and put on my favorite black dress. Since it's my 11th birthday I'm finally going to shift for the first time! I slowly open my door and peek out. As soon as I do I'm scooped up into my moms arms and squeal with delight.

"Well there is the special birthday girl!" My mother's sweet genital voice fills my ears and I look up at her enjoying the feeling of being in her arms. She then sets me down and asks if I'm ready for breakfast. I nod my head vigorously as we walk into the kitchen where my dad, our packs alpha is covered in flour from the pancakes and in his casual Hawaiian flowered shirt. I laugh at the sight when I walk into the room. For a seccond my dad only looks at my mother, i know it's there mate bond. I cant wait to find mine, but first, I have to shift for the first time. I giggle at my thoughts and it's enough to make my father scoop my up just as my mother did. Dispite being the alpha of our pack and constantly having to deal with pack matters, he always put his family first. He hasnt missed a single milestone yet and he always makes sure we smile before we can even leave the room.

He slowly sets me down at the table infront of my plate of food, and I instantly cant stop my smile even if I wanted to. It was loaded with chocolate chip pancakes, and strawberries placed at the top as eyes, a single blueberry for a nose, and half a banana as a smile. Under the happy pancake face on my plate also was "Happy Birthday Nickolet" written with cream cheese frosting. My parents were the only ones to ever deal with saying my name at full length and it always made me smile.

I look up beaming at my parents for this amazing breakfast. Yes, it might be traditional,  but still, it always means so much to me that they go through all this trouble for me even while they have to run a pack. I look down and devower my pancake face and birthday message. I finish my food and look up to see my parents watching me excitedly.

"Are you ready to start your first day of training?" My parents ask in unison. I'm so excited, iv alwats wanted to trian as part of the pack, but it's not aloud untill  your 11 and able to shift. It probably sounds strange to be excited about training, but, as the future of this pack, I knew it was my responsibility and I smiled when the time had finaly come.

I walk outside with my parents to the training grounds. All the pack members (minus my little sister) had gathered to see what my wolf would look like. My parents had prepared me, warning that it would hurt the first time. I slowly imagine myself on all fours covered in fur. Almost immediately I feel like my bones are breaking and want to scream in pain. After what feels like an hour the pain stops and I hear gasps from everyone in the pack. I look down and see I am far from the ground and I have black paws. My mother stares at me with aw and it confuses me a lot. She then motions for Alex, (my dads beta) to bring the mirror so I can see my wolf. I am 5 feet tall, and solid black like my great grandfather was. My grey eyes stand out like an ocean agents my dark black fur. Everyone then claps around me and says that I look awesome.

That's when it all turned for the worse. All of the sudden I smell something burning. I see a fire at the border all around our land. My father mind linkes me to go grab Faith and run to our safe house at one of the packs we have an alliance with. Both my.mom and dad hug me right before running tword thw fire and smell of rouges. I know I cant fight at all, so I run still in wolf form to sisters room grab her pajamas on my mouth and mind link her that its me. She is very advanced for 3 years old. She nods her small head and I begin to run to our closest alliance the Blood Moon pack. As I run north, I hear the screams of our pack. I mind link my mom and dad were im.going and never get a responce. I pray that it's because they are fighting. I run as fast as my new wolf form can hoping and praying that the feeling in my chest is wrong.

3 days later

I have been staying at the Blood Moon pack for 3 days with no word about our parents. I know by now it all has to be over. I shifted human as soon as we got here and havnt shifted since. As worrie creeps into my bones I thank the pack for watching us for these three days and giving us food and a roof but inform them I must go back to my pack. I shift into a wolf for the seccond time and I know my sister cant walk yet, so I pick her up in my jaws like I did for the way here. As I near my pack I see it's all distroyed. I put my sister down, turn back to human and drop to the ground sobbing because I can feel that nothing and no one here is alive anymore. My sister crawls to me and gets in my lap, I hug her close as I mourn the loss of our pack. And our parents.

It's sad that Nikki and Faith lost their parents at such young ages. The sister bond is definitely true. What do you think of how Nikki reacted? What would you want for your birthday breakfast? Do you think youd ne able to do what Nikki did? Share your thoughts! I'd love to know!
