"It's been hours and I haven't seen him." Kirishima sighed into his drink. "What if he doesn't show?"
"He'll show." Mina assured him.
"Yeah. What kind of idiot doesn't want to see their soul mate."
"Maybe he's working or something. Who parties on a week night?"
"People who ride motorbikes and suck strangers off in night club bathrooms." Kaminari answered.
"Yeah. He'll show." Mina agreed.
"What do I do if he doesn't?" Kirishima asked.
"You don't even need to think about that." Mina put her hand on his shoulder, taking a sip of her hard pink lemonade.
Another group entered the bar right then and Kirishima brought his attention to them.
The first one to step in was a very bird-like dude with feathery hair and a sharp nose. He walked alongside a very shiny male who looked kind of like the prince from shrek.
Behind him was a girl who looked super punk rock and boy who looked like an emo Stu Pickles. They all ordered drinks before gathering around the table next to theirs.
"That girl is really cute." Kaminari whispered to Kirishima. "Go break the ice for me."
"I can't do that tonight, bro. What if he gets here and I don't notice."
"I'll go break the ice for you." Mina said. "Come on."
The pair got up from the table, leaving Kirishima behind. Too bad Sero couldn't make it. If he had come, Kirishima wouldn't be at the table alone.
Waiting.
For somebody who probably wouldn't come at this rate. Why would he? Why would anybody be excited to have Kirishima as a soul mate? Somebody as cool as that ash blond, the guy who rode motorcycles and wore leather and made out with strangers, certainly wouldn't. Maybe this was all a fluke. Maybe he got a tattoo and the blond didn't. Or maybe, more believably, he didn't want Kirishima in his life.
The redhead got to the bottom of his drink and shuffled to the bar, eager for another. He didn't go back to the table until he had downed a few whiskeys like a lonely old time country singer about to get on a train out of Nashville.
"So you'll go all the way to the bar to get yourself a drink, but you won't come to the other table to hang out with that gaggle of emos and their pet shooting star?" Kaminari dropped into the seat beside Kirishima, smiling coyly.
"Did you get the girl's number?" Kirishima asked, expecting a no.
"I did! Her name is Jiro and she thinks I'm funny. A girl thinks I'm funny, Kirishima. Even my own mom doesn't think I'm funny."
"That's great, dude." Kirishima wanted to feel happy for his friend, but right now happiness was the furthest thing from his mind.
"You wanna come sit with us? They're really cool people."
"No thanks...I'm feeling kind of sick. I'm going to head to the bathroom."
"But what if your boyfriend stops by?"
"He won't." Kirishima felt his lip quiver. "He's not coming."
"Dude, don't worry. He'll come. Maybe if we came back on Saturday, he'll be here."
"He won't." Kirishima insisted, feeling a heavy weight on his chest. The air in the night club was suddenly suffocating. He needed to get out.
"Dude, breathe." Kaminari took his hand, pulling him toward the club doors. He might have been an idiot, but he knew when Kirishima was freaking out. They had been friends too long for him to be that dumb.
"I wanna go home." Kirishima rasped.
"Alright. Let's go." Kaminari signalled to Mina that they were leaving and soon the pink haired girl was joining them.
"He doesn't know what he's missing out on." Mina patted Kirishima on the back.
But Kirishima knew that the blond DID know what he was missing out on.
And it wasn't worth tracking down.
