The ONE time Bakugou was in a hurry like this, and traffic had to be slow.
Sure, it was lunch, and Friday, but that didn't mean traffic had to be so crazy.
This was an emergency, after all.
Despite the obstacles, Bakugou managed to get to Kirishima's place before his 1:30 class would have started. He had already sent his "can't be in class today due to a family emergency" email, so he wasn't super concerned about it. But he WAS worried about what he would do if nobody was home.
Or if Kirishima was home but....
He didn't want to think about that outcome.
He rushed through the apartment building until he got to the right number. He knocked rapidly, heart absolutely pounding in his skull.
"I'm coming. Jeez." Mina's voice called out to him. She sounded calm, which meant nothing was wrong.
At least as far as she knew.
"Bakugou?" She blinked at him when she opened the door. "What are you-?"
"Where's Kirishima?"
"At work. Why?"
Bakugou held out his arm, showing her the tattoo, which hasn't faded anymore than it already was, but it still didn't look opaque.
"What's that?"
"I don't know, but I think something bad happened."
"We can walk to the gym. It'll be quicker than traffic." Mina disappeared back into the apartment and then reappeared a few moments later with a coat and her keys. "Let's go."
"Thank you. I don't know what I would have done if nobody was home." Bakugou admitted.
"I don't know why you're so worried about him all of a sudden...since you don't like him and all." She walked two paces in front of him, not turning when she spoke.
"I don't want him to die. I'm not an asshole."
"You are but thanks for making an exception for him."
Bakugou scoffed. "This isn't about him being my soul mate. I just feel like it's my fault."
"It is. You're mean to him."
He shoved his hands in his pockets, hunching his shoulders. He didn't make an argument. There was no way he would be able to.
After all, he was mean to Kirishima, and Kirishima didn't deserve it; not somebody as bright and cheerful as him.
"Here it is." Mina stopped at a small looking gym. She stormed in like a mother bear looking for her lost cub. Bakugou followed nervously. He wasn't the type to like gyms very much. They always smelled bad and were full of muscle heads.
"Mina! We've been trying to call you." An absolute unit of a man ran up to the pair, looking very urgent.
"My phone is at home. What's going on?" Mina almost looked frantic, but not quite.
"Kirishima had an accident." The large man stated.
"What happened?" Bakugou asked before he could stop his tsundere ass.
"He was helping a customer with weights and one of them dropped on his foot. Tamaki is driving him to the hospital right now. It's probably broken."
"Seriously? That's it? A broken foot?"
"Bakugou, have some compassion, you absolute ditz."
"I'm sorry, but I'm just pissed that my tattoo would fade over something as stupid as that."
"Your tattoo is fading?" The giant egg raised an eyebrow under his mop of blond hair. "Can I see?"
Bakugou sighed, holding out his wrist.
The man took it, inspecting it closely. "Ah. I've seen this before. I noticed Kirishima's was fading a little as well."
"What does it mean?" Mina asked.
"You've been rejecting him. The connection is breaking."
Bakugou didn't know who this guy was, but he thought him wise.
He took a deep breath, turning to Mina.
"Let's go to the hospital."
