At school, Minty walks up to me as soon as she arrives.
"You, me, locker room, talk. Now," she says assertively.
"Okay...?" I say questioningly.
We scurry into the girls' locker room to talk.
"So what is it?" I was going to ask before she cut me off with a kiss.
Upon kissing me, she says, "I... like you."
I blush. "I like you too."
With a smile, she takes my hand and we leave the bathroom.
Destany sees us and our intertwined fingers with a smile. "So, are you two a thing?"

"Yeah," she says.
I sigh happily as she take our seats on the bleachers.

On the last day, Minty, our friends, and I hung out after the field day was over.
"Any plans?" Carlea asks us.
Destany says she's just going to stay inside and eat food, Dennara says the same, and Minty just stays silent.
"I'm going to Florida with my dad," I tell them.
Minty looks at me with a frown, "So we won't see each other."
"It's just for a month. Besides, aren't you going to Chicago and then the Carolinas?"
"Yeah, but that'll only be a week each. I'll miss you."
"Minty, I'll miss you too. We have time before then."
"You're right..."
