It was just like any other day. She would mop the floors, clean the counters, drain the toilet. She did the same things every day at work. So why was this one different?
Maybe it was because it was the first time in awhile that she wore a braid? Maybe it was because she made sure she got in an extra hour of sleep before she had to arrive at work? Whatever it was, an event as abnormal as this would never happen on any normal day.
As she looked down at her reflection in the glimmering spots on the counter she just scrubbed, she heard the doorbell chime. He had walked into the same doors that so many others had. To others, it wouldn't seem like anything out of the ordinary, but for a young waitress working in that establishment, it was like the unimaginable had slapped her in the face. Who would have thought that the same boy she used to hate but secretly have a crush on in middle and high school, would show up at her part-time job, at the same cafe she worked in, on the middle of a Sunday afternoon?
