Hello everyone!! Just a quick note that the pic at the top is the gift that Nicole, Rhea, and the rest of the bridesmaids all give to Catherine at the bridal shower. I just thought it was funny but it really doesn't have much of a point to the story, even though I might mention it a few times. Well anyway, thank you all for reading this, I love you all!
As they entered Rhea's childhood home, it was astonishing at the throng of people that had gathered to give Catharine good luck in her marriage. Among the people, you could almost immediately see Catherine and Rhea's mother standing by to grab onto the wrapped presents that were given to Catherine. Upon her face, it looked like Catherine was enjoying herself greatly, but on closer inspection, you could see a small hint of annoyance from their mother's presence.
Both Nicole and Rhea walked over to her with their gifts in hand and smiles plastered onto their faces. Once close enough, Nicole wasted no time in addressing Catherine. "There she is, the future bride! Are you excited? I would be so excited if I were you! I can't wait for the ceremony and the food, I'm sure it will all be amazing and..." As Nicole rambled on about the wedding, Catherine's face seemed to light up, but stopping with the destruction of her mother. Rhea on the other hand, knowing that she would regret it, was willing to go the extra mile and take their mother from Catherine.
"Hi Mom, how's dad and the family?"
Not noticing her before, her mother slowly raised her gaze to Rhea; as if to study her. "Hello, dear, we're all wonderful. Do you still not have a boyfriend?" Without wasting any time she had to notice a flaw in everything, even in her own daughter. "Could you stop for just until after Catherine's ceremony, please, Mom?" Upon hearing her plea, her mother seemed to think over the question before giving a simple nod, not shortly after making another quick remark. "I don't know what else there is to talk about, but whatever you want Rhea." Her grateful daughter let out a sigh before turning back to Nicole and Catherine's conversation. At least her mother wouldn't be bothering her for the next 2 months.
The party dragged out as Catherine's gifts began to pile up as the night drew on. Catherine was as happy as one could be with this being a few days before the start of her life with Jack Peters. Rhea and Nicole had both met Jack before they were even dating. Both him and Catherine met through a mutual friend when they were having a lunch sitting for their birthday. They hit it off immediately and soon Jack was introduced to her sister and friend before he finally asked her out. They had a bad break up but then got back together, to everyone's joy, and then he popped the question not long after. Jack was truly a good man and promised to make all of Catherine's days be filled with love and joy. Finally, while everyone was finishing dinner, Rhea decided to make a small toast.
She tapped her glass lightly before muttering a quick excuse me and beginning her toast. "Catherine, the months when I was without you were filled with nothing but anticipation. I was ecstatic to see my sister for the first time. Ever since then, we have been best friends, of course with a few disagreements and fights, it's all part of being sisters; and then when all of our friends came along, we could never be apart again." Hearing the crowd erupted some small sounds of laughter, it brought a smile to her face before continuing. "I have known you for all of your 23 years of living, but for those years that you have been with Jack, I have never seen you as happy as when you're with him. I love you, and I hope that you have an amazing life with the man you love." She whipped her eyes of her unshed tears before sitting back down next to Nicole and the other bridesmaids. From across the table, Catherine's eyes met hers and gave her a small smile before mouthing a thank you.
The rest of the party was filled with old memories, laughter, promises of the future, and of course some champagne. To keep everyone entertained, they all played a few rounds of 'how well do you know the bride' and those who were already married gave some things to both look forward to and dread.
