CREDENCE
I watch Ella stand star struck in awe of the man in the car. He walks out to talk to her after a classic mishap with the door handle. Ella would normally have laughed at that. But, she is too stuck in shock to even think about it. Well, this situation is a bit of my fault. I really shouldn't have let her fall asleep on the street. I mean. I didn't expect her to fall asleep there... I guess she is getting a bit old (she would kill me if she heard me say that), so preposterous acts are rather acceptable.
But, in my defence, I was a tad busy. I have some things going on and a call had just come in and I absolutely had to take it, it was bloody important. I thought that Ella would convince the lovely little Droop off the road by the time I was done. But by the time I arrived, she was asleep. Agreed, I was reading when she looked up, but I wasn't really thinking about the story much.
I simply can't share the truth with Ella. I just can't afford that. She really is the only person who accepts me without any questions asked.
I had slipped off to the side of the road while Ella spoke to Droop on the road. She had been surrounded by bloody idiots with their phone cameras out recording everything, every second of their life rather than actually spending time in reality and just solely living. They were all in a contest, it seemed to post videos online and see who got the most 'likes' or whatever it was. For once, the bloody idiots were useful. Making use of the commotion, I had moved away, undetected by Ella.
The phone call did not, by any means go well and I was left quite discouraged. Still, I have to go on undeterred. I picked up Sprite and headed back to Ella and Droop. They were still sitting/ lying down on the ground and though I couldn't hear Ella cooing to the dog, I just assumed that she was still convincing him to get up. I ignored them and pulled out a book from my bag and attempted at reading. My mind was drifting off to other places.
Suddenly there was a resounding horn in the area. I didn't really bother looking up, there were crazy people at the wheels of many cars, honking away as if they owned the air and the streets they rode on. Neither did I realize that Ella and Droop hadn't come back and I couldn't hear Ella's mindless chatter. The honk sounded again and again but I just continued to ignore it.
When Ella shouted my name, I was thrown a bit off kilter, pulled out of my thoughts. She was glaring at me, her hair all over her face and a teensy bit of drool at the corner of her mouth.
Fast forward to the guy and Ella in front of the car.
I can say a lot about him, he's absolutely marvellous! He looks like a... decent guy. Which is quite surprising. Obviously, older people always look simple, innocent and artless, but it isn't quite always like that. At least that is what I believe. And as Ella usually says, "There is no more truth in the world than in what Credence believes." He has an honest face, that is rugged all the same. I haven't really seen a face like this in years. Agreed that our country has its fair share of good looking men, but this guy is the image of ruggedly handsome.
His features are nice, with slightly thin lips and a tad long face. His forehead is bit large but matches perfectly with his face and forms a perfect design with his slightly choppy hair. He is handsome because of the happiness reflected on his face... like it has been sculpted into his face. I don't remember the last time my happiness wasn't a mask in one way or another. This was one of those guys who teach you how to live and love and everything in between. Ella had clearly been smitten with the man. He's fit and he's tall enough and he exudes joy. No, it's not joy. This man is comfortable as the person he is and lets everyone know it. I would like to learn that from him.
It's not just his physique, I think it's his eyes that would really get any woman to him. No surprise there. I can't even decide on the exact colour of his eyes. It seems as though they are forest green and leaf green at the same time. I'm at a distance, so that's honestly all I can see. But I already find the sight before me beautiful. This is a true male specimen!
