Cherry

4 1 2

What if I am a cherry in a world of berries?
What if my only desire is to be as different as I can,

Because I tried to adapt,
I tried to be the same,
But I cannot do what I don't understand,

What if I want to be proud,
Of the person that I am,
What if my only option is to be the cherry,
In the big world of berries,

What if more of us,
Are not berries,
But oranges,
Roses,
Water,
Leaves,
Gold,
Iron,
Peanuts,

What id we're all different,
In a world where we are expected to be the same,
What if everyone tried to be a berry for so long,
They forgot who they really were,

The norm of society presses hard on the individuals,
In this age of freedom,
In the age of respect,
In this age of privacy,

We can hide behind words and screens,
We can wound others from miles away,
And our respect and privacy,
Is lost on the wide web,

But what if we all want the same things,
Love,
Life,
Food,
Friends,
Family,

But if we say we are unique we cannot want the same things,

We are put in boxes,
We are put in numbers,
And faith,
And love,
And sin,
So what if we are not the same, only equal?

And who is to judge who can,
Or cannot live their lives the way they want,

Are we not more than the labels?
