Peer Pressure

Pressure is in everything around you, in school, in careers and in friends. Pressure is what leads you to a point of a break down, when you feel like you've been stepped on to do something in an uncomfortable manner. Pressure in school, is when you have to study a whole book in a short period of time for an exam. In your career, is when you have the responsibility of giving a service to a human correctly, or otherwise your income will not fit your lifestyle. However, peer pressure might be the hardest, in my opinion though, because this is what touches your feelings.

Peer pressure in my opinion is having the goal to feel accepted by your friends. This might come in so many different situations. Peer pressure can actually make you feel like you are always having this heavy responsibility on your shoulder to have the satisfaction of your friends , its like your life depends on it.... on them. You will always feel scared to make them upset, you will always take care of all your actions towards them; such an uncomfortable situation.

Peer pressure in my opinion is not caused by your friends, its caused by you. However, your friends take part in such a feeling too. Peer pressure is feeling like you always have to be the first to be there for them when they need you, even if they are NEVER there for you. Your main focus will always be to help them in any way you can, it will make you focus on what annoys them and just to totally stay away from it. Also, if you feel like you made a mistake that might annoy them, trust me, your brain will not stop thinking until you make sure that what you did, did not upset them.

For example, you might feel like you'r the third wheel in a friendship but you are trying to accept their close friendship, so you will say "that's fine, I just need to get close to them too". Therefore, you start going out in every outing they go, you decide to support them in every tear they drop, you decide to fix their fights, you decide to sacrifice what you want, for them and you might even reach a point to cancel plans with your family for them.

Its actually one of the most suffocating feelings in the world, especially when you actually win their satisfaction but something happens that makes you lose that satisfaction, at that point you will feel double the pressure. You know, everyone has their ups and downs, but in peer pressure situations you will feel like you are alone because the peers that you are trying to satisfy, with the first mistake you do you will feel like your friendship is over, therefore you will want to try again to fix things. Sadly, you might be in a position in which your soul needs to be renewed to be able to have the energy to work on gaining that satisfaction again, especially when you feel like it will never work.

One of the worst feelings that you might feel due to peer pressure, is when you feel like even though after all what you've done for that certain person they do not appreciate what you do, but you still continue, maybe out of love for them. Its so uncomfortable to live having the same heavy rock on your shoulder everyday and sadly no one will feel that you are suffocating because of your friends.

You would also wish that they try to satisfy you, like how you work really hard to do that for them. In my opinion, friendship should be easy and friends should always assure each other, make each other feel loved, make each other feel important and make each other feel like they have a reason to be alive.

Also, you being afraid to be yourself or annoy them is really suffocating, but if you take the risk they might get upset; the worst part is, that you do not allow yourself to be upset from them. You don't know why you avoid feeling upset from them or arguing with them, maybe because you do not want fights that might make their satisfaction decrease? Maybe you feel like being upset is not important for them? Maybe you feel like its not a worth it reason to talk about? Or is it because in front of them you want to be an understanding person. Even though you are a human and its OKAY to feel annoyed about something or from someone.

Sometimes, it's not about only their satisfaction and getting close to them, it gets to a point where you also want to feel appreciated. You start feeling like you are doing too much, suffocating everyday and being upset in silence, but no appreciation is found.

You can't live trying to please everyone, I mean why does no one ever try to think of you for once! You can't go through your life feeling worried about being accepted by your peers or how to be close to that person. Every time you do effort and not even feel appreciated you are stopping yourself from being yourself, which is the best thing in the world and the least suffocated you will ever be.

Also, a reminder, DON'T ever underestimate and don't be peer pressured into being less than you are. You know? Be yourself and ,let people come to you instead of you gain their satisfaction. Trust who you are for once, give yourself a chance. Try at least for one day being with yourself with anyone and see how comfortable you would feel, you should feel accepted and they should accept you since they are your friends, seriously you are not born to please people.

Start working on yourself for yourself, not for others, look forward to be better for yourself, to be real, not be fake loved one. Stop pressuring yourself.
