As soon as Muna entered the Kabuoh mansion, Kesi excitedly caught her in his arms and gave her a deep kiss before she could resist.
Muna allowed herself to bask in the comfort before she pulled away.
She was here on serious business and nothing could distract her from it. She let him take her hand and lead her up the stairs to where his room was located but as soon as they got there, she pulled away and led him to his couch.

His room was like a self contain/ one room apartment. He had a whole couch and television on one side and his huge bed was on the other side. He also had his own toilet and bathroom.

"We need to talk," she told him as she pushed him into a sofa.

"What is it? What did I do?" he asked, his beautiful face contorting in worry.

"You got me pregnant!" she told him without preamble.

"What! How? When?" he shouted, losing all that cool she'd been admiring earlier. He stood and stared at her as he folded his hands on top of his head.

"Kesi, I'm pregnant. It was because we had unprotected sex December last year."

"Oh my God. Oh my God." Kesi chanted walking up and down his room. "My father will kill me if he finds out."

"Well mine has killed me and these are my remains." Muna responded drily. She couldn't believe how calm she was considering the 'condition' she was in.

"Your parents know?" At her nod Kesi swore "Fuckkkkk"

"How did you think I knew? I fainted after dinner last night and they took me to the hospital." she explained.

"So that means you can't like, get an abortion?" Kesi asked, standing in front of her.
His question hit her like a bucket of cold water. She knew she didn't want a child but the fact that he didn't want it too was kind of heartbreaking and relieving at the same time. Ugh!!!

''That's not possible. I'm almost five months gone." she informed him.

"That's not a problem. My sister was six months pregnant when she did hers and there was no damage. I'm sure yours will be a small thing. I can ask her to give me the doctor's number and I'll give you money to do it." he said, kneeling in front of her. The only other time he had knelt for her was when he jokingly did it when he was begging for forgiveness few months back.

"I don't know. My parents are coming to see yours this evening. Maybe after the meeting, we could talk about it"

"Wait...What?" Kesi stood up abruptly. "My dad can't find out, Munachi."
Why was everyone calling her by her full name today. "You haven't understood what I'm saying. I can get you the money, call my sister for the doctor's number and address and by this evening, the baby is out."

"Are you sure it won't be too risky?" She asked him in a whisper. "I'm scared."

"So you want your parents to come and tell my parents eh. So that what would happen? What exactly is your plan? Look, I'm sixteen and I'm not ready to answer daddy." Kesi retorted, angrily.

"You've seen me that's ready to be a mother! I'm not even ready to be one in the next ten years sef." Muna shouted back.

"How would I know with the way you're acting? I'm coming up with bright ideas but you're refusing them all. You want your parents to come here, right?
How do I even know that you're really pregnant or maybe this is some plan you made with your parents to get money from mine since they realized you're dating a Kabuoh."

Muna heard the sound of the slap before she realized that her hand had moved.
"How can you say that? Who do you think you even are? You know what? I'm leaving cos if I stay here I won't be able to write my exam today. You know that little exam called WAEC for poor people like me who can't afford British education."

As she moved to go, Kesi held her back and drew her into his arms. "I'm sorry, baby. I know you and your parents are not gold diggers. I don't even know where that came from. But please consider my suggestion. I think it's the best solution to all this."

Muna drew back. "It's easy for you to say. You're not the one that's going to go through it so you won't feel the pains or have to worry about whether you'll come out alive or not."
With that she walked out.

Muna walked into Amara's room like 30 minutes later. She had had to take a bike using some of her food money. She found Amara on her bed studying past WAEC question papers like they were the real thing.

"Ah Ah. What are you doing here? Appointment finished early today?!" Amara exclaimed as she saw Muna.

Muna didn't respond but instead sat on Amara's bed.

"What happened? Did you people quarrel again?" Amara asked, serious this time. It was only these things that made her serious.

"Amara, my life is over!" it was now that Muna was fully realizing what had happened to her. She would no longer be mates with Amara. Her childhood was over.
Instead of discussing things like 'what new hairstyles to make' or 'going to oil mill to shop for clothes' or 'the fine boys in WAEC lesson' etc. She would be talking about baby clothes, baby food or if anyone would be willing to marry her.
She wondered if she should tell Amara at all. How could she have been so foolish?

"Muna, you're scaring me. What is it?" Amara asked, sitting up on her bed.

Muna leaned back on her bed and lifted her uniform shirt up to reveal her stomach. When she was laying down, the roundness of her stomach was more visible.

"I'm pregnant."

"Jesus Christ!" Amara jumped down from her bed.
She held up her hand. Muna knew she was trying to gather her thoughts so that she wouldn't ask or make foolish questions or statements.

"Does Kesi know?"

"Yes. I'm just coming back from his house."

"What did he say?"

"What else he say? I should get an abortion.'' Muna whispered sitting up in case anyone walked in without knocking as Amara's mom was fond of.

"So what's the plan? When are you doing it?"

"Doing what?" Muna asked shocked that Amara was supporting Kesi's idea. "I'm more than four months gone..."

"More than four months, Muna!" Amara whisper-shouted. "And you're just finding out! What have you been thinking? How could you miss your period for up to four months without knowing you're pregnant?!!"

Muna didn't respond so Amara continued. "All I'm saying is this, this is the best thing you can do before your parents find out..."

Muna let out a bitter laugh. "My parents? How do you think I found out? You thought one Angel just appeared to me and told me? I fainted last night and woke up this morning in the hospital. My dad was the one who told me."

"Oh my God, Muna." Amara muttered at a total loss for words.
She and Muna sat in silence, their minds swirling with different thoughts, ideas, imaginations, everything.
