I walked into homeroom with my head down. I hadn't received any sleep last night after Danielle left. It wasn't because Wyatt's ghost was keeping me up either it was the fact that all this time I believed Wyatt brought me home that night.
I take my seat and rest my head on the top of my hand. I close my eyes and just as I begin to fall asleep a loud slam abruptly wakes me and my eyes widen to glance down at the paper sitting on my desk. My eyes slowly turn up to look at Hero standing over me.
"Happy now?" Hero glares at me and then walks out of the classroom. Everyone's looking at me, giggling and gossiping about what the hell that was all about. I stare at the paper and my mouth sits agape in shock.
The first line reads: To Ella
My temper gets the better of me.
I dislike being alone yet I push people away so I won't end up hurting them. Even if hurting people brings me and unhealthy amount of joy.
I play the piano and guitar but I only enjoy playing for myself.
I started smoking cigarettes at the age of fifteen knowing it was a bad habit to keep.
I got my first tattoo at the age of fifteen, it was of a match and I thought of going back and adding a flame to it but I decided to keep it as a reminder that all flames eventually die out.
I met Wyatt the first day of second grade and I tricked him into bringing me fruit snacks everyday.
The real reason why I came back here was to say goodbye to Wyatt and Justin. I never did say goodbye to them because I was stubborn and I thought they were happier without me. Wyatt had you and Justin had Danielle. I didn't have anyone so I left to live in California.
When I first met you I wasn't interested in getting to know you. As time went on I adapted to your quirkiness and you became someone I looked out for. You still annoy the hell out of me, you're just lucky I tolerate you.
He did it?
Hero Adams actually opened up to me?
I pinch myself just to see if I'm dreaming.
Nope, still here.
With all this information I quickly write down my essay about Hero. The bell rings unexpectedly and I quickly pack up my things and desperately look over every corner to find Hero. It seems he's hiding from me so I wait until lunch rolls around.
I don't wait at the table for him, instead I wait just outside the cafeteria and spot him at the end of the hallway. Good thing he's so tall it's not hard to notice him in the crowd. I jog over to him and already see the scowl spreading across his face.
"Can you look happy for one second please?" I ask nicely which makes him force a smile. "That's better, I finished the essay."
"Okay." He shrugs. "Can I go grab some food now?"
"Do you mind if I tag along?" I ask.
Hero shakes his head and we stride on over to the long line ahead of us. Hero simply makes his way to the front and the two girls waiting to go next in line let him through with no objections. They're grinning at him and twirling their hair around.
