ONE OF percy's favorite days in the year was orientation day. one by one, the new freshmen came into the dorm, unpacking their things and saying their final goodbyes. and, without fail, there is always one kid who tries to sneak his dog or cat into the dorm. the dorm rules, which percy, being a resident counselor, knows very well, clearly state that the only pets allowed in the rooms are fish. cats, dogs, ferrets, frogs, whatever pet one may have - if it isn't a fish, it isn't allowed. usually, most of the students are compliant, but every now and then you get a jokester, or maybe just a guy who really wants to keep his pet, who is persistent. this year, that kid was jason grace.
jason grace was taller than percy, with blond hair and tan skin. he was muscular, and his skin glowed like he had the personal blessing of the gods. percy knew about jason, alright, being the son of jupiter and one of the heroes percy had worked with all those years ago. looking at his searching eyes, percy could tell jason was starting to remember, too. it had been so long, and they both had been so busy with other quests and missions, they hadn't really kept in touch.
percy regretted nothing more.
jason smiled at percy knowingly, and percy blushed – blushed! – to himself. he remembered too much of the boy, of the feelings he used to have for him. jason was, i guess you could say, percy's "gay awakening." percy thought he only had feelings for girls – annabeth, rachel, calypso, you get it – until he met jason. jason was beautiful in a way percy didn't understand, and he was smart and kind and strong and — percy stopped himself. it was 2019. percy was older and wasn't, under any circumstances, going to fall for jason grace again.
not after last time.
