They were only supposed to kiss once. And even then it was unexpected.
Jung Jinsol and Kim Jungeun were both popular in their school, in their respective grade levels. And even if they were in the same grade, they still probably never would have talked to one another. Whereas Jinsol was predominant in sports, Jungeun was a charmer and liked to gossip.
But she never gossiped about Jinsol. Ever. Nobody exactly knew why. Perhaps they had made some sort of alliance. Maybe Jinsol secretly threatened Jungeun with something, or blackmailed her. Or the least controversial--and the truth--was that Jinsol had nothing to gossip about.
Now, Jungeun doesn't go off stalking people in order to get information out of them. It's always practically handed to her by one of her most reliable sources, Kim Jiwoo. (The girls looks so sweet and innocent that people often let things slip, not really thinking about how she's connected to the Gossip Queen.) But Jungeun's sure that if she had followed the older, there wouldn't be any dirt on her. Mainly just watching her play soccer or badminton and going home to study. Even as a jock, Jinsol doesn't use her status to gain guys' attentions. Says she 'doesn't have time to date'.
So Jungeun doesn't bother her for the most part.
Until she found her grades slipping in English and she needed a tutor. Many people were afraid, and a lot were eager to please Jungeun. But the only person who made top grades in English that did neither was Jinsol. Which led Jungeun to choose her as her tutor.
It was surprising, to say the least. People who knew Jinsol often said she wasn't intelligent. They made her out to be an airhead. But behind Haseul and some guy who was born in America (who both didn't offer tutoring lessons), she was the most proficient in her class. It amazed Jungeun who listened as the older easily explained everything from that day's lesson, almost as if it came second nature to her.
Still, that wasn't enough to be saved by Jungeun's gossiping ways. The next session proved it.
After they were done for the afternoon, Jinsol seemed quick to pack up everything and leave the library. It was odd seeing Jinsol rushing to do anything that wasn't related to sports, so Jungeun abandoned her belongings and hurried after her.
It was dark out, since Jungeun arrived late and had more trouble this time around, so she asked Jinsol more questions and had to be explained more things thoroughly. Since Jinsol wore a dark coat, Jungeun had a hard time following her. And every time Jinsol looked around, Jungeun dropped her head and pretended to be texting someone on her phone. She could hardly contain her excitement to see Unproblematic Jinsol's secret.
Surprisingly, it wasn't that faraway from school. Jinsol made a sharp left turn behind a building, and Jungeun leaned against the wall of said building, trying to listen for anything. It was hard considering all the people walking by and cars and buses making noises out on the road.
Jungeun stood there for a couple of minutes, running through all the possibilities as to why Jinsol was in a dark alley. She had to be meeting someone. Was she buying drugs? Was she selling drugs? Was she secretly dating? Is she a prostitute?!
She held her phone up to her chest, deciding she would just surprise them with her flash on as she took a picture of them. After mentally counting to three, Jungeun turned the corner and took a few steps in before raising her phone and quickly tapping the button on her phone. There was a small delay as the flash turned on, and Jungeun tapped the screen again so it would focus, and the sight was shocking.
Okay, maybe Jungeun wasn't too off with the prostitution guess as Jinsol and the mystery person were kissing before jumping away when the flash appeared. And it wouldn't have been so bad if Jinsol wasn't kissing another girl.
"Wowww," Jungeun said as she turned her flashlight on, stepping closer to the two. They still looked to be in shock, but Jungeun was a natural at recovering from shocking things.
"Well, well, well," Jungeun continued, approaching them. "Who would've thunked that Jung Jinsol was gay?"
"It...it's not what you think," Jinsol said, raising her hands up in front of her.
"Oh, is it? Looks to me like you were kissing another girl! Or am I blind?"
The girl, who looked to be from another school according to the uniform she was trying to hide under her own dark coat, shuffled behind Jinsol. Her head had lowered ever since Jungeun revealed herself, trying so desperately hard not to get noticed. It led Jungeun to wonder if the girl was someone important, like an idol maybe.
As the schoolmates had a stare off, she quickly ran from behind the taller and past them. She ran out the alley and disappeared. Jungeun would've chased after her, but she could get all the information she needed from Jinsol with the evidence of their makeout session.
Yeah, that maybe made her a bitch, but she was really curious, honestly. She never saw Jinsol as the type to like girls, and she always said she didn't want to date.
A total lie. Nobody liked liars.
"I'm waiting," Jungeun said, crossing her arms. It wasn't much. She only wanted to know the identity of the girl, if she was actually gay, why did Jinsol lie, if Jinsol was gay, and how come they've never told anyone, or else she'll leak the photo all over social media and potentially ruin their lives.
What she got instead was not what she wanted at all.
Jinsol approached Jungeun, lowered her phone, then pressed her lips against the younger's firmly.
It took a moment for Jungeun to realize what was happening, and by the time she did, Jinsol was pulling away from her. The taller had a smirk on her face as she straightened her backpack on her shoulders before walking right past Jungeun without an explanation.
A good minute past before Jungeun shook herself out of her stupor, still feeling the lips against hers, so soft and warm. Contrary to the feeling, she was irritated, outraged that Jinsol had simply done that without even having the audacity to ask if Jungeun was gay.
Heated, she turned her flashlight off before storming out the alley, roughly rubbing her fingers against her lips to get the feeling to go away.
