There once was a time, long ago, when the world was divided in two. One side belonged to the Darkwings, whom were ruled by their cruel King, King Moonbraiser. He was by far the most feared dragon in the history of the Darkwings. Their home was desert and dark forests, where they would prowl, searching for food. Food was scarce, and the only place food was thriving, was the royal garden. The Darkwing King claimed that each citizen would get a ration from the garden each month. He gave them small amounts and kept the rest for himself and his family. The Darkwings were always hungry, and King Moonbrasier made sure of that. That way, when a battle broke out, they would fight not only for their lives, they would fight for flesh. The Darkwings were never allowed over the border, except for the royal guard and the King himself. King Moonbraiser was a very feared King, that way, no one would dare to rebel. That's what his logic was anyways.

The other side belonged to the Lightwings, whom were ruled by Queen Sunlight. She was a peaceful dragon who tried to prevent fighting between the two sides, but when a war broke out the Queen showed little mercy towards the Darkwings. The worst part about it, is that people started to rebel. They started the Sunset Dragons, who live right on the border. Once a dragon joins the Sunset Dragons, they turn into the serene colors of Sunset. These dragons aren't on either side but can be as ferocious as a Darkwing and as kind as a Lightwing.

Lightwings wanted to keep the world divided, but Moonbraiser had other plans. The malicious King wanted the world to be his and his alone. Though he was stubborn and thought he could do this alone, he knew deep in he couldn't. So he sought out the three fates, Past , Present and Future. He flew atop Fate Mountain, which was on the border of lightwings, darkwings and sunset dragons territory, and called out, "Past! Present! Future! I have come to ask a question!".
The clouds turned gray and thundered, as if trying to scare off the King. Moonbraiser, as stubborn as he was, stayed put, knowing they would never dare to hurt a royal such as himself. Then the clouds cleared and he heard a voice from above snarl , " I am Future, the leader of the three fates. Ask your question and then begone you foul creature." Future came out of the clouds. He was a big dragon and was a sky blue and looked as if his horns and some of his scales were made of cloud. He was the most majestic thing Moonbraiser had ever seen. Yet he acted as if this majestic dragon was one of his loyal subjects.

" Is there any way I could take over the world?! ", he snapped, " I need to know quickly, for I feel my people are getting restless. They also want power as much as I do. They want rule over this world and beyond. Tell me and your lives will be spared when I am King of the World." Moonbraiser braced himself just in case he was to be blasted by the powerful beast.
" Learn patience, oh impatient one", Future said. Then Future realized he was scared and smiled. "Fear is a powerful thing Moonbraiser, some, like you, learn to control it. Others however try to ignore it. I do both, so no need to be scared. Unless I want you to be",  His eyes flickered into a harsh glare. Moonbraiser cowered and stepped back a bit. Future blew air in the king's face and chuckled, "You are scared, O' Restless One."
The King's dark face turned pale, " I'm not afraid of you, cloud beast! Answer me or pay the consequences!", he roared.

" If you keep that behavior up, your consequences will be worse than you can imagine. To answer your question, yes there is a way to lead to your rein.", Future's eyes started glowing and then he sang,

"In two years time you must go West.
Then you must find the princess of the Lightwings nest.
Raise her right, though you have lied.
But soon she will be fighting by your side.
If she is captured by her kin.
You soon find, you can not win."

Then with that, Future disappeared into the clouds.

Moonbraiser scowled, " That's it? Do you think I don't deserve a challenge? It seems like child's play. I will do it, and even you, the three fates will bow down before me.". Then the King laughed a cruel, malicious laugh as the sun rose behind Fate Mountain.

Two years later.....

It was night as it always was Darkwing territory. It had been two years since the night on Fate Mountain and King Moonbraiser was standing on his balcony in the Darkwings Royal Castle. He was looking out into the dark, still desert. His sharp eye looked across his land. There was a mountain, which looked small from his angle, which he knew was Fate Mountain.

Suddenly, he spotted a small figure flying at top speed towards his balcony. He called down to the guards, "Let him in".

The guards called back up to him, " Yes, your majesty".

The small figure soon became a small dragon who flew on balcony and landed. He was a typical Darkwing, black body, blue eyes and long, dark wings, hence their name. He clutched a small blanket in his claws.

He held out the blanket to his master , " Here she is King Moonbraiser, unharmed, just like you ordered".

Moonbraiser took the blanket and opened it gently to reveal a light colored egg, a pastel yellow base with bright yellow spots. As he was unfolding the blankets the the small Darkwing asked fearfully, " M'lord? May I ask a question?".

Moonbraiser scowled, then realized that the egg might hatch at any moment. He didn't want to make a bad impression on the one who will help him take over the world. He replaced it with a blank, serene expression.

" Yes Eclipse, you may", He replied simply, then returned to staring at the egg. He started to cover it back up. He thought,"It needs to stay warm"

" What happens if the Lightwings come to retrieve her?", Eclipse asked.

" Kill them", Moonbraiser snarled, "No one, not even a darkwing, can get near this egg without my permission. This egg is too important.", he added, not taking his eyes of the little egg in the blanket. Little did he know, two years later, how much trouble the hatchling would cause him.
