I remember that during that dream, I realized that everything that that strange presence possessed had once belonged to me. Rage and pain struggled to get out of my chest.
"Who are you?" I yelled.
"Who do you think I am?" I heard a voice resonate in my interior, because of his lips did not spout a single word.
My face reflected in his, and it was my same face, but at the same time different. Puzzled by such an appearance, I shouted angrily. "How am I going to know?"
A kind but accusing voice answered me.
"I'm the one you once were, and who could return to be, were it not for your cowardice and indecision. I am the one who you once threw out your life and changed for who you are now, in search of a life of false purposes and petty pleasures. I am here to give you the opportunity to recover, only if you cleanse your body and mind of the impurities that occupy it."
"Why right now?" I asked confused.
"Because we all have a new opportunity, as long as we seek it. You think you're going to die, and your unconscious summoned me desperately to see if you have the courage to take responsibility. You have so much to contribute to this world. The Creator sent us here with a purpose for each one. You haven't met yours, and I have come to give you the opportunity to fulfill it."
"But how?" I asked in anguish. "I don't know if I can."
"You cannot do anything or have anything, unless you want to do it first or want to have it." the voice of the presence resonated like an echo inside me. "And you won't be able to do anything, unless you think you can do it. You can, if you think you can. The world is at your feet. You just have to take it. But first, you must want to take it and you must believe that you can."
"How can I know if I can?" I insisted in asking.
"Dare yourself!" The presence answered sharply. "You will never know what you are capable of until you try. You have powers that you don't even know exist. Search within yourself, discover them and make use of them. The world belong the bold and not to the fainthearted. Expel the fear from your life. That is your worst enemy. There comes a moment in the life of everyone, in which he must choose to stand aside as a fearful spectator, or bravely join the march of the winners."
" Is that all? Is that enough?" I asked.
"You must believe. Faith is but the certainty of the things that are yet to come. «That for which you pray, believe in receiving it, believe that it will be given to you » said the master. "You must believe that you already have what you want, and be grateful for it and for everything. Nobody can have more faith than the one who thanks for what hasn't yet arrived."
"So, I just have to believe?" I asked incredulously.
"Behind every belief, there must exist the firm purpose of making it a reality; to make it a tangible expression. And for that you must develop a strong and unwavering will. You must dedicate yourself to your purpose with the ardent fervor of a crusader, without diverting your attention for a moment. Will is the greatest power in the world. But it is built step by step. It requires a true commitment to your desire."
"My will is weak," I replied.
"Strengthen it with perseverance. No matter how many times things do not turn out as you expected, try again. Dare again. You'll discover that there are many ways of doing things. Perseverance will encourage your creativity, and in turn you'll discover in wonder those potentialities that remain hidden within you."
"How can I start?" I asked timidly
"From the beginning as everything," he answered. "And the beginning is now. Don't worry about what you did or didn't do. You cannot act in the past. That is just a memory. Don't worry about tomorrow, because you cannot act in the tomorrow. That is hope. You can only act today and now. So, concentrate on what you have to do today. Do today what should be done today and do it well. If you want something, you must start now!"
"Don't you resent me for what I have done?"
"You must learn to forgive. You cannot afford to carry throughout your life, the accumulated load of all your grudges. And you must start with yourself. You were made in the image and likeness of the Creator, but not perfect. It is your task to seek perfection, and for this, you will make mistakes. Forgive yourself, forgive everybody else and go on.
"What do I do now?" I asked hesitantly.
"Serve. Start by making your wishes to serve a greater purpose. Make that all your actions imply an improvement in someone else's life. Put your talents at the service of others. Don't ask yourself, what is it for me?, but instead how can I help? Recognize at once that you're not a human being with spiritual experiences, but rather a spiritual being with human experiences. When you climb the ladder of success, make sure you leave it on, so that someone else can climb it as well."
The presence began to shine and vanish, and I felt at that moment an indescribable sadness. However, looking at myself, I noticed that I was beginning to look like him. His voice continued to echo inside my head.
"Close your eyes and think deeply about what is it that you really want. Convince yourself that it is already yours and don't hesitate to take it. Open your hand and dare to claim what rightfully belongs to you. Have faith that what you want is a reality and be grateful for that. Fear is the biggest obstacle you will have to overcome. Expel it from your life. Maybe what you want, might take a little while to arrive. Persevere and strengthen your will. Do what must be done, and do it well. Make sure your purposes serve a greater good. Help someone else make his or her dreams come true."
With this message, my mission has been accomplished. I have bequeathed you what according to my modest experience, is the secret that will allow you to pave the way that will lead you towards personal fulfillment, and therefore to plenitude and happiness. It remains in you to make wise use of this teaching. You cannot continue putting excuses to life. The beginning of your new life is now!"
"Search within, and allow yourself to discover who you really can become."
"I Love You".
"Your own self, who lives and dwells within you".
