A quiet morning rose up above the horizon, beaming into the wide set office windows where Valeriya was spending most of her time these days. She buried herself in all of her work for the better part of the last five years, going straight to college after high-school and gaining the upper hand with a master's degree in chemistry and economic finance.
Valeriya used what she learned to create what some would refer to as a dynasty. She was the queen of her castle, despite it being as grandoise as it was, she rarely ever flaunted it.
"You really need to get out more." Val lifted her head and saw her friend and bodyguard standing in the doorway.
"Hi, Lucas." She hummed. "No I don't."
Lucas had come to her four years ago in a time of desperate need, needing a safe place to go from a nasty group that felt that he wronged them.
"You do. Maybe, I dunno, go out and get a date or something. All you ever do is work." He pointed out, coming inside to sit down across from her.
"Please." Val huffed. "No one this side of the country could afford even five seconds of my time."
He raised an eyebrow at that, and then rolled his eyes. "It just seems like... Like you're holding onto something. I'm worried about you."
"Don't be. Whatever I'm holding onto is my business, and it hasn't stopped me from working." She stared at him. "I am fine."
"In look? Definitely. Mentally? I'm not so sure..." He singsonged the last sentence, smiling. "What are you working on this month anyway? Probably something that someone could be hired to do."
"Probably, but I don't trust anyone enough to let them handle my financials. Besides, after the shake down we just succeeded in doing on that rival compound... I'm enjoying my win."
"Because..." Lucas started, smiling. "No one steals from Valeriya Aksakov." They said in unison.
