"Snow," you muttered darkly, watching the puffy white flakes drift to the ground. Your warm breath fogged the window in front of you. When you'd woken up this morning you thought your bedroom looked a little too bright for this time of year. You'd rolled out of your comfortable, warm bed, stretching your arms over your head as you shuffled to the window. You hadn't even pulled the curtains back and you already knew. Snow. Frigid and cold. One of your least favorite things about winter.
You were still glowering at the snow piling up in your yard when you heard your phone vibrating on your bedside table. Turning from the window, you shuffled back to your bed, laying down on your stomach to stretch your arm across the bed and grab your phone. Not bothering to look at who was calling, you swiped the screen to answer and brought the phone to your ear.
"Hello?" you said, rolling from your stomach to your back.
"Have you seen it, Y/N?" Jimin asked, excitement coloring his tone. You couldn't help the smile that broke out on your previously crabby face. It was hard to remain unhappy when Jimin was happy.
You groaned before answering, "Yes, I've seen it."
Jimin's sweet laughter tinkled through the phone. You smiled up at your ceiling like some kind of idiot.
"You know what this means," he said, his giddiness obvious through the phone. "I'll be there as soon as I can!"
Before you even had a chance to answer, Jimin hung up the phone. You hoisted yourself up off the bed and raced around the room grabbing a change of clothes before racing to the bathroom. Jimin didn't live that far away, and even with the snow it wouldn't take him that long to get to your house. You turned on the shower, before stripping out of your pajamas and getting in. You showered as quickly as you could, knowing that Jimin would be here soon enough. This was the norm almost every time there was snow. You and Jimin had been friends for years and any time it snowed you were annoyed by the powdery nuisance and he was over the moon. He would always come over and insist that you had to enjoy the snow with him, so you would grudgingly join him outside. You always ended up having fun, but it was so cold. Visually, you loved winter, but you hated being cold and somehow snow made everything colder.
Turning off the water, you stepped out of the shower, shivering as the cold air hit your body. You wrenched open your cabinet and pulled out a towel, drying yourself as quickly as you could. You wrapped your hair in your towel and pulled on your clothes, a cute, but comfortable pair of jeans, and your favorite, oversized grey sweater. You rushed through brushing your teeth and washing your face, before pulling the towel off your head, plugging in your blow dryer and beginning the process of drying your hair.
There was something about drying your hair that chilled you out and made you pensive, maybe it was the warm air blowing through your hair, or maybe it was the almost obnoxious sound of the blow dryer that blotted out almost every other sound, maybe both. Lulled by the combination or the warm air and the inability to hear anything other than the blow dryer, you found yourself thinking about Jimin. Somewhere along the way, you realized that you liked him as more than a friend. There was something about his ridiculously cute smile, his loyalty, his ability to be fiercely protective of his friends, and his absolute enthusiasm for anything he was passionate about that drew you to him. Granted, you'd already been aware of those things when you became friends, but there was just something about him in general that made you feel breathless and weak in the knees. He had no idea you had feelings for him, and if you had your way he never would. You valued your friendship with him too much to risk making things awkward with him.
When you first realized how you felt about him you'd thought it was a fluke, teenage hormones or something, but as time went on and you realized you genuinely liked him, you dropped a few hints here and there. He never picked up on your hints though and had dated other girls between then and now, though he was currently single so there wasn't really anything stopping you, you had finally decided you were okay if you were only ever just his friend. Anyone would be lucky to have a friend like Jimin. You finished getting ready and made your way to the kitchen to make breakfast. You had just finished making some waffles when you heard your front door opening.
