You always loved date night with Hoseok; it never mattered what you did, the two of you always had fun. Truthfully your dates hardly ever went as planned, like the time he tried to teach you to rollerskate which ended in a trip to urgent care and a torn ligament in your ankle, but your dates always ended up being memorable and special.
Tonight was your first anniversary and he had told you to wear something comfortable and pretty. He'd been planning this date for weeks and still hadn't told you what it was. That evening when you pulled up to Hoseok's house in your favorite purple dress you weren't sure what to expect.
You opened the car door and got out, surprised that Hoseok hadn't met you at your car like he always did. As you made your way down the walk to the house you reveled in the fresh, country air. You'd been surprised when Hoseok decided to buy a little farm house in the country, having expected him to want to stay in the city, or at least in a town, but he loved being further from all the hustle and bustle of town.
The sun was setting in the West, painting the sky in the most beautiful reds and purples you thought you'd ever seen when you noticed the porch. A lone table set for two was set up on the wrap around porch. A soft smile graced your lips; you'd mentioned before that you always think it's so romantic when a couple in movies or books dines alone at a table for two at some beautiful locale. Of course Hoseok remembered. He always remembered every little thing.
You walked up the steps of the porch and crossed to the screen door, pulling it open and stepping inside. The sight of Hoseok standing at the stove finishing whatever it was he was cooking made you a little weak in the knees. The sleeves of his black button up were rolled to his elbows, exposing his skin wrists and defined forearms. You crossed the room and wrapped your arms around his waist and pressed your cheek against his back.
"That smells yummy, Hoseok," you murmured. He gently slid his hand over yours and held them there for a moment before shutting off the burner and turning in your arms.
"I made your favorites," he said as a radiant smile broke out on his face. "Are you ready to eat?" You nodded excitedly, eliciting a chuckle from him.
"Can I help you carry anything?" You asked, watching as he portioned out food for both of you.
He shook his head, "I've got it, baby. You just go sit down." He glanced up at you and shot you another smile, "I just want to make you feel special tonight."
"You always make me feel special," you replied. "Are you sure I can't help you?"
"I'm positive. Now go sit down." He answered firmly.
Shaking your head at his determination you made your way back outside and took a seat at the table. Shortly after, Hoseok came out with two plates. He set yours in front of you before placing his on the table and taking a seat. You were touched when you saw what was on the plate; he really had made your favorite food. You reached across the table and took his hand.
"I love you, Hoseok," you told him. It wasn't the first time you'd said it, but every time you told him you felt sense of peace inside of you.
He smiled back at you and gently squeezed your hand, "I love you, too."
You smiled at him and pulled your hand back across the table. The two of you dug into your meals, enjoying the delicious food and the comfort of each other's company. After dinner, Hoseok went inside and brought out a small Bluetooth speaker and his mp3 player. He fiddled with it for a bit before a soft, slow song came through the speakers. Grinning broadly, he made his way over to you.
"May I have this dance, milady?" He asked, extending a hand to you. You nodded and slid your hand into his, allowing him to pull you to your feet. He led you into the yard and pulled you into his arms, swaying softly to the music floating through the air. At some point during dinner the sun had sunk below the horizon and the moon and stars appeared.
You loved this. You loved the way it felt for Hoseok to hold you in his arms as you slowly swayed to the music. You didn't think Hoseok had ever looked more handsome than he did in that moment with the moonlight shining down on him. Your sunshine boy all but glowing with moonlight. He smiled when he caught you staring. He leaned in, his lips almost brushing yours when the music abruptly cut off.
"Seriously?" He muttered looking perturbed. He started to pull away from you, but you grabbed his hands.
"Stay," you whispered. "We don't need music to dance."
You could see in his eyes that he got what you were saying. He wrapped his arms around your waist again, pulling you closer than before. You leaned your cheek against his chest and closed your eyes, listening to his heart beat as you danced. As the moon rose higher in the sky, you decided that Hoseok's heart beat was your favorite music of all.
