Your dog scampered toward you happily. His little legs working over time to get to you faster. You smiled at Skippy and knelt down when he reached you, pulling the ball from his mouth. You threw it again and watched your little friend chase after it, tongue lolling out of his mouth as he ran. It was the first day that the weather really felt like spring and you couldn't resist bringing Skippy to the park to play. It was really a win for both of you; you got to enjoy the sun and pleasant weather, and Skippy got to play somewhere other than home.
Your little dog was running back to you with his ball when he noticed a man walking on the path in the park. You knew Skippy loved everyone, but he typically left strangers alone. You smiled fondly as he tilted his head and perked his ears in curiosity. Your feelings of fondness soon morphed to shock when he dropped his ball and ran to the man, yapping happily. The man jerked in surprise, looking down at your short, but loud little dog with big, dark doe eyes.
You jogged over to them, worried that the man wouldn't take kindly to your dog's big personality. When you reached them you pulled Skippy's leash out of your back pocket and knelt to clip it to his collar, "Skip, you need to be nice. You can't just bark at everyone you see."
Your sweet dog just looked at you, his slobbery tongue hanging out of his mouth cutely, the corners of his mouth pulled back in such a manner that it looked like he was smiling at you. Standing, you slid your hand through the loop of the leash. You gazed up at the man in front of you, trying not to gawk at his handsome features. His dark hair was wavy and appeared to be getting kind of long, hanging in his eyes. He was tall and obviously built, but he wasn't intimidating like some men were. There was something about him that seemed sweet and kind.
"I'm sorry about him," you finally got out. "He thinks he's the boss and that he's some huge dog." The man chuckled at that.
"Don't worry about it," he said, smiling. "I really like dogs; I just wasn't expecting him to come over to me, or for such a big bark to come out of such a short dog."
This time you were the one laughing. You looked down at your sweet dog fondly. Skippy's bark was almost deafening when he got excited. You were going on a walk? Skippy barked excitedly at you until you made it to the road. Another dog was in his yard? Skippy would bark his head off until the dog ran off or you came to shoo it away. You wondered what it was about this stranger that had made Skippy so excited.
You realized you'd zoned out when you heard the man clearing his throat. Your eyes snapped over to him, his hands now shoved into his pockets, he was rocking back on his heels.
"My name is Y/N, by the way," you told him, extending your hand. "And this is Skippy."
"I'm Jungkook," he answered, firmly grasping your hand. You were momentarily shocked when he clasped your hand; his hand was warm and very large. Your hand seemed tiny in comparison to his. After a moment, he released your hand and rubbed the back of his neck. "Would it be weird for me to ask if you and Skip need another fetch partner?"
You were momentarily surprised by his question. Surely he had better things to do right now, but he wanted to spend time with you and Skip? Who were you to complain?
"That wouldn't be weird at all," you said, a smile spreading on your face. "No one can resist Skippy's cuteness!"
Jungkook laughed at that and followed after you as you led Skip back to where he had dropped his ball. While you picked up the ball, Jungkook knelt down and unclipped Skippy's leash. You turned to thank him, but stayed quiet when you saw the sweet way that he was treating Skip. He was rubbing his head gently and murmuring quietly to your little dog. Skip's tail was wagging back and forth as he looked up at Jungkook. It made you happy to see him being so nice to your precious little doggy.
After a moment, Jungkook stood and handed you the leash. You took it before throwing the ball and telling Skip to fetch. His little legs carried him after the ball and before you knew it he was trotting back over, dropping the ball at Jungkook's feet. You weren't sure how long the three of you had been playing for, but it was easy to lose track of time when you were with Jungkook. He'd struck up a conversation with you and you found yourself really enjoying your time with him. He was funny and smart and kind. You wished that you could talk to him longer, but you knew you needed to head home.
"I wish we could talk longer," you told Jungkook as you clipped Skippy's leash back onto his collar. "I have to get this little old man home and study for a test."
"That's okay," Jungkook said with a smile, rising with you as you stood up from the bench. He extended his hand toward you, "Here, give me your phone." You placed your phone in his palm and he quickly tapped on the screen a few times before handing it back to you. "Now you have my number and we can talk later, or maybe meet up for a coffee?"
"I'd really like that!" you exclaimed.
The two of you walked toward the entrance to the park, continuing to talk until you had to part ways. You turned and walked toward your home when Jungkook called after you.
"It wasn't Skippy's cuteness that won me over." he said, a wide grin on his face. "It was you."
T
