Chapter one

CHAPTER ONE

Tobias's POV

"Tris, Tris wake up!" I say shaking her to death. She had been mumbling all night about WILL! She still hasn't gotten over it, and I'm afraid she never will.

"Huh! Why did you wake me up," she sat up and looked at my clock. She's been staying with me.

"It's 6:30! Is today special or something?" her tone sharp and agitated.

"Kind of. First of all you were talking about Will in your sleep and second of all today's the choosing ceremony and from your last final rankings you have to help me with the initiation. And in case your forgot it's our one year anniversary!" I hope she didn't take my voice the wrong way, she's brutal when she's angry!

"Oh my gosh! I can't believe I forgot! And do I really have to help you with initiation?"

"Yes you do. And don't worry I won't be helping anyone fight like I did you, you know when I told you where to keep tension and stuff?"

"Trust me I remember and you better not or you better hope they feel about you they way I do! And if I have to help I get to call out the jumper's names! Deal?"

"Deal!" I lean in to kiss her, she kisses back. I lean into her ear,

"I love you." I whisper, she kisses me again and walks to the bathroom.

Tris's POV

After Tobias and I got dressed we went to the Dauntless entrance to meet the jumpers. While we were waiting Tobias was telling me what to do, what my name was and where to go. He said I ask what their name is and then yell what number jumper they are and their name. He told me when we introduce ourselves my name is Six not Tris because then I'll be seen as the rebel and here he is Four again. After about three hours I hear a loud scream, it's a girl. I look up and down comes a smaller girl dressed in grey, Abnegation. She bounces on the net a few times and then I pull it down.

"What's your name?" I ask her.

"Corie." she replies and she rolls out of the net I turn around and yell,

"First jumper, Corie!" We go through all the initiates until I hear the last scream, and down comes a boy tall and slim dressed in black and white. I pull down the net.

"What's your name?" I do like told.

"It's umm.....,"

"You can change it but make it good it's your last chance!"

"My name is... Matt."

He jumps out of the net and I turn around and yell one more time,

"Last jumper, Matt!"

Tobias looks at me and winks, I now know it's time for the introduction.

"My name is Six and-" I was interrupted by a boy from Erudite.

"Like the number? If so what happened did you fail your initiation six times?" he and his friends start laughing.

"Let me finish, I am Six and this is Four. We will be your two main instructors." again the boy must comment.

"Wait Six and Four? Well go ahead and call me Five!" I look at Tobias his face is bright red. He walks over there.

"What is your name?" he asks.

"Colen."

"Ok Colen, how about we begin our tour shall we? With you standing between us." Colen walks up and stands between Tobias and I. Tobias looks at me and mouths,

"The Chasm!" I nod and we all walk in unison, the Dauntless born are in the Pit. We stand across the Chasm bridge, Colen still between us. Suddenly Tobias spins him around and wraps his collar around his fist. He lifts him into the air over the Chasm and looks at me.

"Welcome to The Chasm! And your first lesson is if you live in Dauntless don't talk too much! Got it?" I say almost gleefully. He rapidly nods his head. Tobias sets him down and keeps walking. I rush next to him and he whispers,

"Do you want to get the message clear?"

"Yes!" I reply, then he leans in and kisses me. All voices are silenced including my own. Tobias smiles at me and just keeps walking.
