◇Zen's Pov◇
“Okay everyone, you have to fake it like you mean it. Fake it like your girlfriend just asked you if she looks fat in an expensive dress she just bought and you flat out compliment her.”
“That was oddly specific.” She wasn't talking to anyone. Min just has this habit of giving these type of comments.
“Today, all of you have to put on the best performance of your lives.” Director Kwan, dramatising the words then asked me and Yun to take this very seriously, adding that there is no real bad publicity. Something I've heard a lot.
But it's easy for them. Their careers don't fall on the line for what the public sees us as.
“That man is way too dramatic.” I feel my lips pull to a grin. Min's thinking the same thing.
“Min,” The director calls her to his office and she goes. I watched as the door closed behind her and deep in my soul I wished she hadn't.
I'm not going to go around it, he cannot be trusted and when it comes to Min, my blood boils because of the way he looks at her. I know what's going through his head when he looks her up, even when she's in her most casual outfit and I can't stand it. There's this constant fear that eats me up inside.
My eyes were glued to that door, waiting for her to come out.
When she did, I could breathe again.
“So-” I didn't get into my first sentence when she interrupted.
“Can you believe it?” she raised her brow, shaking her head. “He wants me to stay with him to help ‘visualize the remaining scenes.’” she said while air quoting with her fingers. The only scenes left for shooting are the romantic ones and that was enough to make me clench my fist and want to punch a wall. She scoffed, then folded her arms across her chest. “The nerve.”
“What are you planning on doing?”
“We'll, I'm not staying here for sure. I made that clear to the director. Can I come with you guys?”
“Of course, Who else will distract the cameras while me and Yun make our getaway?”
“Why do I have to be the distraction?”
“Because you're the best kind.”
“Only if you buy me a cupcake.”
“Deal.”
She came and hooked her arm to mine. “Deal!” She grins, pulling me towards the exit. Nothing gets between her and her desserts.
“Wait up! Where's the fire you two?” It's Yun, and okay…? We lock arms and-
“Hi, Yun. We're going to get cupcakes. Wanna come?”
But Min, It was supposed to be just the two of us. I wanted to hang out before making the fake relationship public. I worked in this field long enough to know when we do a publicity stunt, you have to be committed to it.
“What?” Min raised a brow, looking up at me. “Can't you buy a cupcake for your fake girlfriend?” she kept a serious tone, like she was offended. I haven't said anything yet. Then out of nowhere she breaks into laughter.
What am I going to do with you?
“C'mon” she gets us moving, guiding us to the door.
“This is fun, isn't it?” Yun leans her head on my shoulder, it was fine until- “It's actually funny. We're like the mistress, the wife and Zen.”
