The morning after the party Jess and I immediately went to our laptops and looked for potential donors for our daughter or son. I had browsed many sites, site after site, I couldn't find anyone who looked remotely good enough. Then again, what guy did look good to me? I closed my laptop at this point. "This to me is hopeless. Can we look for local places?" I asked as I put my hand on her screen. "Okay. I'm not finding anyone either." She admitted before clicking on things. I opened my screen again to look locally. There was a place that had a personal consultant 10 minutes from our home. "You see this right?" She asked seeming like she'd burst from excitement at the screen of hers. I looked at her for a few seconds before we slammed our laptops and ran out the door. We made sharp turns on the sidewalks, running to the place we had seen on our laptops. I was breathing heavily, and Jess was breathing heavier than I was. I stopped running and I let her crash into me pulling her into a hug, twirling her to ease the effects momentum had upon us. I picked her up bridal-style and proceeded to run. I wasn't as fast as I was before, but it was enough.
"Petra, what...what are you...doing?" Jess asked me, I turned my eyes to look at her in my arms. Her face, her poor exhausted face, still trying to catch her breath. Her exhausted face had a hint of worry, I could tell. "I'm running... to the place... where we can..." I was starting to say. I swallowed the excess buildup in my mouth and continued "where we can get our...baby!" I struggled to say, I continued to look at her face. "Petra, your heart is beating so hard! Are you okay? You should stop!" Jess almost yelled at me as she spoke. "I can't! We need to get there! Two more minutes and we're there!" I yelled, I could feel my voice about to give out. "Petra please, stop!" Jess screamed, I heard the desperation in her voice. I looked at her face again. It had fear, distress, anger, and the distinct expression that tells me she's desperate. I stopped running, and put Jess on her feet. I dropped to my knees and leaned over. My hands helped hold me up. She knelt down next to me, and put her hand on my back. I was wheezing from the exertion I had caused myself. "Please, Jess. Two more minutes." I asked her, I practically whispered from the lack of air. "I admire you want to go that bad, but they don't close for another 3 hours." Jess replied showing me the place on her phone. I groaned in embarrassment, having exerted for no reason. I leaned on Jess, cuddling up against her on the pavement.
A good 20 minutes later, we were on our feet again, we walked to the place this time. "So... what do you want the guy to look like?" Jess asked me, smiling into my face again. "I-I dunno, I want him to at least be able to provide smarts to him or her." I replied to Jess, looking at her smiling in response. "Yeah. That's true, we want him or her to be smart." Jess replied, looking at the pavement pass under her feet as she walked forward. Eventually we were there. "Yes hi... do you take walk-ins?" I asked the desk clerk, Jess showed up next to me moments before the clerk replied. I saw her look at Jess, then back at me. "You know what? Lemme get your names and I'll have her come get you." I turned my head to Look at Jess. She nearly exploded from excitement for the 3rd time today, she's such a goof.
"Jessica Redd and Petra Redd." Jess shared to the clerk and the clerk smiled and gestured to the row of four chairs. We went to sit down in them. "Why did you want to keep running when you were already exhausted?" Jess asked me, I could feel her gaze begging me to return the gaze, so I turned my head to look at her. "Because, I didn't know it wasn't gonna close right away, and most importantly I didn't want to see you be disappointed, it breaks my heart when you are." I replied taking her hand in mine. I could see an overwhelming amount of emotions inside her. The most prominent one was love, and I reciprocated that emotion.
Five minutes later, a woman wearing a red dress came out. "Redds?" She said reading a note that was just handed to her minutes before. We stood up and shook the woman's hand. She took us down a short hallway and into her office. Her office was incredibly cliché, the pictures of men and women, babies and binders, there were frames with credentials, it was maybe a little too cliché for me but it was okay enough for me to endure. "So tell me what you're looking for to be passed down to your son or daughter." She said as she pulled out more binders. "Well... they need to be sweet, kind and smart." I mentioned to the woman, I scanned the room for her name. Soon my eyes fell on a super cliché desk tag that read Penelope Schwartz. "Ah yes. Here's the binder for that." She said handing us a rather small binder. We looked through it and after a short time, we found a tall man, skinny. With brown hair and brown eyes. "Ms. Schwartz, may he provide the stuff please." I asked her, pointing to his picture. "Oh of course! Here let me draw the papers. Any questions before you sign?"
She asked us while digging through the files. "We don't want him to reach out to us or our kid whoever it may be." I said with an assertive voice. "No problem. Now, how many tubes do you want?" She replied and I answer just as fast. "We want three please ma'am."
