I don't know if I should believe her. Why would my sister be dead? It makes no sense.
"I'm sorry but I don't believe you. I know you are my best friend and you would never lie to me but this has gone too far. First you tell me that some stranger is my boyfriend. Then you tell me that my sister is dead. You can't keep lying to me like this", I say, trying to get through to her.
Her eyes begin to swell up with tears. Did I do something wrong? I was just tired of her lying to me.
"If you don't want me to tell you the truth, then I'm leaving", she says angrily and storms out of the room.
Then another girl, also about my age, walked into the room. I don't have any idea who this girl is either. Why do strangers keep walking into my room? Just like Haley, she is all bruised and beaten up. I need an explanation from somebody who will tell me the truth. I need answers from my mom or even better, my sister.
"I can't believe you are alive. The nurses were telling me you wouldn't make it and I kept giving up hope that you would make it", she said to me when she came in.
"What are you talking about? Who are you and what are you doing in my room?"
Just like Jake, she asked the nurse why I was confused. I don't understand anything that is happening right now. I wish someone would explain to me why people that I have never met before are coming into my room and telling me that we are friends.
"Well I guess you don't remember me, but my name is Jessica and I'm your best friend", she says, trying to hold back tears.
"I'm sorry but I don't know who you are", I say, trying not to upset her even more than she already is.
Just then another boy I don't know walks in. What is going on? Why are these people even here?
"Hey Crystal. How are you feeling?", he asks me.
"What's your name?", I ask, wanting to know as much about these people as I can.
"She doesn't remember me?", he asks Jessica.
Jessica just shakes her head sadly and they leave the room. He still never told me his name and the only person I knew was Haley.
The next person that comes to my room is the only person I want to see right now.
"Thank goodness you're here. Where have you been, mom?", asked tiredly.
"I was at work all day sweetie. I'm sorry. What's wrong?", she asks me sounding worried.
"Strangers kept coming into my room, saying that they knew me but I have never seen them before. Where's Lily? Didn't you pick her up from school?"
"What are you talking about? Why would you think I picked her up from school? Don't you remember?", my mom said.
She looked hurt at my question. Did I do something wrong?
"Well who else would have picked her up besides you?", I ask very confused.
Like the others that visited me, she turned to the nurse for an explanation of why I didn't "remember" something. Then she tells me something that is the worst possible thing I could imagine.
"Honey, Lily is dead."
