Is it true? I thought Haley was lying to me, but my mom? She would never lie to me, especially something this big.
"But how? I don't understand why this is happening to me", I say, trying to take in all that has happened today.
"Just get some rest and I will explain everything to you in the morning, okay?", she says reassuringly.
"Okay", I say and go to sleep.
When I wake up, I realize that yesterday wasn't a dream and I'm surrounded by people. My mom, Haley, Jessica, Jake and the guy that came in with Jessica yesterday, are all surrounding my bed.
"We all are going to explain this to you", my mom starts. "But first, we want you to tell us the last thing you remember."
"Okay. The last thing I remember is me, you, and Lily driving here to California. I fell asleep in the car and then I woke up in the hospital for some reason. That's the last thing I remember," I tell them.
"Well we got to the new house and we met our new neighbors. Jessica is your neighbor. She was the first friend you made before going to school the next day. She introduced you to her boyfriend, Colton, and then to Jake. You had a crush on Jake for a while and finally he asked you out. You were so happy and you were in a good mood all the time. Then your sister went missing and we were all so worried. But you had Jake to support you and help you get through it.
On the last day of school, the police came to the door and told us that they found Lily but she was dead. You were devastated. Anyway, Haley came down for the funeral. Well three days ago, you, Haley, and Jessica were on your way to the movies. A drunk driver hit you guys head on and you were in the passenger seat. You wouldn't wake up for a while and we didn't know if you would make it. But luckily you did but you obviously suffered from a serious concussion and have lost some of your memory," my mother explained to me.
How could I have forgotten all of that? That has to be at least 6 months that this has been going on.
"I'm so sorry I can't remember anything," I say, breaking into tears.
"It's okay it's not your fault," my mother said.
"Mrs. Pierce, your daughter can go home today," the nurse said to my mother.
"That is wonderful news," my mother exclaimed.
So that night, I got to go back home and sleep in my own bed.
