Sometimes, I like to put the world into two categories: One being a happy place where nothing bad happens and you get to have fun and grow old with the love your life. And two being a dark, cruel place where bad things happen all of the time and there is nothing you can do about it. I like to think of this situation being the second one.
"What do you mean you can't find her?," I asked him.
"Well I went to go get a pair of swimming trunks for a party next weekend and she wanted to go get Starbucks. So that's what we did. We went our separate ways and she said she would meet me in the store after she got her drink. I was getting worried about her because she didn't come back. I just brushed it off because I just thought I was a long line. An hour passed by, and she still never showed. That's when I went to go see where she was. I went to Starbucks and she wasn't there. I asked the lady at the front if she saw where she went and she said she left the mall with her boyfriend. I found her phone on the ground when I was walking back here. She's gone and I have no idea where she could be," he told us in a sad voice.
I feel bad for him. They have been going out for three years now and after high school, they were planning on getting married. They love each other so much that this is horrible.
"We will help you find her," I said, "but you have to keep it together and help us. I need you to answer some questions for me so I can find clues that might help us. Does Jessica have any enemies?"
"Well she did but she's gone. Jade was her one and only enemy. Everybody else loves her," he told me.
"Is there anybody outside of school that is her enemy?"
"No. Everybody I know that knows her loves her. She is missing and we don't have any clues to find her," he said, starting to cry again.
That's when I figured out how to find her.
This is a mall. There are a lot of people here. Some people think that it is okay to steal. Some people murder. Sometimes they do it in public places. That's why they invented something that is going to help us find Jessica: a security camera. I tell Jake and Colton what my plan is. They agree with me that it is a good idea and we start putting it to action. That's when I hear a sound no one wants to hear in their life.
