Hannah woke up. She noticed how dark it was. That's how she knew she woke up too early. She couldn't go back to sleep, so she got out of bed. She wanted to leave the room, but from the recent things going on around the house she began to grow the fear of darkness and loneliness. Hannah didn't like being alone for too long. It would've made her scared if her mom wasn't with her when it was dark. So to know she wasn't alone, she grabbed her favourite stuffed bunny off the bed.
Hannah named him Mr. Hops. "Let's go, Mr. Hops. Let's see if there if mommy's awake." Hannah stepped out of bed and slid her pink slippers onto her now cold feet. Her slippers warmed her feet up quickly. She walked slowly towards the door. "Mommy?" Her hands were shaking a bit, so she hugged Mr. Hops for a good minute. Her hands stopped shaking, and now she could open the door.
Her hand touched the cold door. Everything in her room was cold because her heater was broken and needed repairing. Even the floor chilled her up from the touch of it.
She looked to the left. Her mother's door was closed and locked. Hannah could tell from where she was because when it was unlocked, it wouldn't stay closed. Hannah walked to her mom's door, pressing her ear against the cold wood. She could hear only the sounds of silence. She hated that sound.
The sound of silence filled Hannah's ears. It was really quiet. Too quiet. She walked down the stairs as she heard the sound of her feet touching each piece of wood. The stairs were cold but not as cold as her bedroom.
The sound of silence filled Hannahs ears until she couldn't take it anymore. "Mommy!" Hannah yelled loudly to block out the sound of nothing. Suddenly, her mom came rushing down the stairs straight to Hannah.
"What's wrong, Hannah? And why are you up so early? It's one in the morning!" Olivia picked up Hannah as Hannahs slippers slid off her feet, exposing her toes. "Mommy, It's cold!" Hannah was placed back down onto the ground as Olivia put her pink slippers back on.
"Why didn't you go back to sleep?" Olivia asked.
"I tried, but I couldn't." Hannah walked to the kitchen to get some food. Hearing the sound of nothing made her hungry in a way. Or maybe it was just her boredom. She grabbed a bright red apple and started taking small bites out of it. Olivia didn't start talking until Hannah finished the apple. She threw the remains of the apple out and walked back over to her mom.
"I guess because both of us are awake now, we can do something quiet until morning?" Olivia advised, pointing at all the board games on their random shelf they had in the living room.
"Okay..." Hannah walked over to the board games and yelled, "WE ARE GOING TO PLAY SOME SORRY!" Olivia walked over and told Hannah to quiet down. "I didn't even know we had Sorry anymore. I thought you threw it out last year. We really need to play board games more often." Olivia murmured quietly but loud enough for Hannah to hear.
Hannah nodded as she pulled the board game out. But while in the process, all the other board games fell on Hannah.
"Oh my goodness, Hannah, are you okay?!" Olivia said worryingly.
All you could see was a pile of board games on the floor. Then an arm being shown giving a thumbs up. Olivia sighed, getting all the board games off Hannah. "Now we can play," Olivia got the game set out on the table as they started playing until morning. Hannah one three of the five rounds they played.
They had breakfast after they put the board game 'Sorry' away. A couple of hours later, Hannah got tired again. So she went back to her room with Mr. Hops and went back to sleep in her warm white and pink dotted blankets.
Wow. I didn't expect this to take me more than 30 minutes. It's surprising, really. Okay, see you in the next chapter! Bye, my squishums!
