Crowded rooms feel empty to me. The echoing of my whisper ceases, creasing under the pressure of their screams.
Bleeding.
Bleeding.
Everything is bleeding.
Their eyes.
Their lungs.
Their hearts.
A cacophony of screeching.
A symphony of screaming.
I look up at the dancing crystals in the sky and ask the Moon what to do.
She responds, her voice silky smooth and soft.
"In the depths of all of this music, you will become lost. Music transcends words. Remember where you are."
Though everything is wrong- the light burning through my retinas, my throat closing in, my head throbbing- I wonder why the stars are still so bright.
Galaxy eyes stare into mine, taking me on a journey miles away.
I stop.
I listen.
Really listen.
I stretch my arms out, weaving through the noise until I see it.
My escape.
The moment it touches my fingertips, the world melts, a plethora of colors mixing together. Structure melts into unimaginable compositions of love and tranquility.
But it is torn from my grasp once more.
With a swift movement, it dissolves to what it once was. Descending into turmoil and madness.
My lungs scream for air, longing to be torn from my body.
The voices build up, taller and mightier than the reflection in the water that towers above me, grinning.
As waves of panic rise, I brace myself for the impact. They rise higher and higher, my eyes closing tighter and tighter.
I feel it tickling the top of my head and take in a deep breath.
Nothing.
I take another breath in, deeper than the last.
Still nothing.
I peel open my eyes to see the Moon and her warm beams shelter me.
Save me.
I try to look around me, trying to figure out where I am.
Sweat trickles down my forehead.
I listen for the notes.
My mind itching and my ears twitching to listen to the metronome beats.
I'm a slave to the score.
Picking out the flats and sharps, building a shield to protect myself.
I cry out and take flight.
Swirling through the waves and crashing to the shore, I take a breath.
The sunflower sun brushes my skin.
Softer now, the sand carries me further. I reach the rocks and stretch out my limbs
She stands over me again, beaming.
Once again, I get lost in her eyes.
Galaxies light years away draw me in.
Closer then I've ever been.
Laying down beside me, she warms me with her heavenly glow.
My eyes flicker and close.
I wait.
Wait for my dreams to take me back to the beginning.
And they do.
