The tall, thin man sat on the brown chair, rocking the small girl on his lap back and fourth. The tall, thin woman sat beside the two, staring at her two loves, nothing but adoration consuming her. All three shared the golden hair that is as bright as the sun, and the enchanting gray eyes.
The trio sat relaxing as the man told the story of their enemy; the wolves,
"...but also, he died. That's when Prometho arrived. He is said to be the father of the wolves, the husband of the moon goddess. He jumped into battle, defeating his brothers who chose to go against him. It was a twelve year war. Prometho slayed his brothers and his children, stating that they were the evil the world needed gone. Then, we came in. The Reina Clan. The first born vampires. Your great, great, great, great," the man squished the little girls rosy cheeks, making them appear as fish lips.
The little girl giggled as she pushed her father's arm to continue. With a smile, the man continued with the story, "your very great grandfather, was the original vampire. The gods put him down here to protect the earth from those foul creatures who praise the moon. Dalian Draconian, was his name. He was the first vampire, and the man who killed Prometho. However, those stupid dogs believe different," the man scoffed.
"They believe that Promwetho went into hiding when he saw the error of his ways. Unbelievable! If he is hiding, he is hiding because he is scared, not because he feels guilt for murdering his children and brothers," his voice grew loud.
The little girl whimpered in fright at her father's loud voice. The woman who sat beside him quickly opened her arms for the little girl to jump into. "Damien! Watch your tone," the woman scolded.
He let his tense shoulders drop as he saw the little girls eyes fill with fright. With a nod, the man grabbed at the little girl again, "I am sorry, Amala. Your mother is right, I shouldn't have used that tone," he pressed his thin lips to her forehead.
It wasn't long before the Amala fell asleep in the arms of her father. Once the soft snores began to fill the room, the two adults were picking up the little girl and putting her to bed. "I am sorry for my tone, Atarah. You know how I feel about those mutts!"
Atarah slapped her hand harshly on her husband's shoulder, "keep your voice down," she whispered harshly.
After dropping the girl in her room, the two proceeding to their own. They made no conversation until they were laid in bed, and their eyes were slowing closing. "We need to protect her, Atarah," a deep silence followed as Damien fell into a deep sleep.

258 years later...Amala dashed through the halls, jumping over the fallen table, then sliding across the marble floors. She landed behind one of the statues of the "Royal Hall Room". She quickly moved to a squatting position, scanning the room before moving again. Once she saw the coast was clear, she ran. Her speed was other worldly. Her parents couldn't comprehend the speed in which their only child ran at.
She slid across the floor again, just like a professional baseball player trying to make it to the next base. This time, she landed behind a large chair. She moved to scan the room again, and that's when she saw her target. The sound of her feet were invisible to the ear, she forced her heart to stop its beating, she commanded the blood rushing through her to remain silent. She stood right behind her target, "boo," the whisper leaving her full, red lips. The target turned quickly aiming a dagger at her heart, but she was quicker, driving a silver dagger through the man's abdomen.
The black blood oozed out of her victim; a hardy laugh leaving him. The bleeding mans' eyes shined with astonishment, "she is ready, your highness". The man bowed as the King and Queen walked into the room.
The King couldn't suppress his happiness as he opened his arms, "she is ready!" Amala leaped into her father's arms; she was ready.
