I walked moodily to my locker from Science. I poked my head in my locker and pulled out the necessary book for my next lesson. P.E. Great. I wasn't too great at P.E, well, I mean Set 2 wasn't bad, but still I could do better.
"Hi, do you want us to wait for you, or meet you outside?" Kate asked, herself and Liz materialising at my side.
"Just meet me outside" I replied, catching the eye of Lawrie Johnson across the now deserted corridor. I slung my bag over my shoulder and walked towards him across the polished floor as Kate and Liz disappeared. He leant back against the lockers as I approached him. Suddenly, the force of our magnetic necklaces attracted, trying to pull. I was pulled onto Lawrie's chest, pushing him back against the lockers. If anybody saw it it could've been taken out of context. Unfortunately, Cassandra and Whitney, the 'popular' girls walked past and took a double take and cackled with laughter. With all my efforts, I managed to push myself off Lawrie, both of us bright red.
"Well I never Charlie Murphy, I never thought I'd see you cuddled up to Lawrie Johnson!" smirked Cassandra.
"I wasn't!" I claimed "it wasn't like that"
"Of course" said Whitney sarcastically, raising an eyebrow. And they both sashayed down the hall, guffawing to themselves.
"Now what are we going to do?!" I asked Lawrie lucidly.
He shrugged "nothing, I suppose, just hope they don't say anything to anyone"
I sighed, this was more stress than it was worth.
I walked as the bell rang shrilly to the PE department, finding the nearest cubicle and locking myself in it. I changed into my PE kit and trainers. I unlocked the cubicle and walked to the water fountain, catching a glimpse of Cassandra and Whitney smiling smugly to themselves. I hoped to God they wouldn't say anything, this was all I needed. I couldn't concentrate on my PE lesson, it was even badminton, my favourite. When the lesson ended I picked up my towel and bag and went to take a short shower. I noticed that my bag was open, but didn't think anything of it. I peeled off my clothes and stood under the lukewarm shower. I took my shampoo out of my bag and squeezed it out. The liquid looked a little darker than usual but all the same, applied it to my head, thinking that Mum must've bought a different shampoo this time. I washed my body and dried and changed quickly. The changing rooms were desolated and quiet as everybody had gone for lunch now. I walked over to the mirror and nearly had a heart attack. Instead of my usual blonde tresses were long dark brown locks. I was horrified. Who would do such a thing as to swap my shampoo with hair dye! I knew exactly who! I tried to hide my hair by twisting it into a bun and hiding it with a beanie hat. I walked past Cassandra and Whitney outside the PE department.
"Hi Charlie, now you have the same colour hair as your boyfriend!" Cassandra chuckled, walking away arm in arm with Whitney. I felt like crying. I saw Lawrie walking toward Maths and pulled him aside.
"Lawrie, Cassandra and Whitney have dyed my hair! They said now that I much you!" I said, my pitch rising, tearing away the hat from my head releasing my dark hair in a cascade of curls.
His blue eyes widened.
"God! That's just the lowest of the low" he said.
"I know" my eyes snapped open "if my mother sees my hair she'll KILL me"
"Calm down, calm down, meet me straight after school at the field and I'll bring shampoo and a bucket of water, okay?" he said reluctantly.
"Okay" I sighed "oh and never tell a girl to calm down - just for future reference" I added.
"I'll keep that in mind" he said bluntly, walking away.
