"What the hell?!" Lawrie yelled. My eyes were as wide as saucers. Wings? Is this even aerodynamically possible?

"Lawrie, I'm scared" I stated.

He ignored me. He was too busy trying to figure out what the heck had happened.

"Please let this be nightmare" I said, pacing the grassy floor and pinching my arm to see if it was a dream or not.

Ouch!

Pain stung at my arm. This was very much so reality. Once the pain had subsided, I turned to face Lawrie, who was equally bewildered.

''HELLO!" Lawrie yelled frantically.

A red glowing female creature flew towards us.

"Hello. Charlie. Lawrie" she said, her voice tinkling like a nightingale.

"Who are you? And what are we doing here?" Lawrie scowled defensively, pushing his dark floppy fringe from his clear blue eyes.

The red creature had long black ringlets, a long glittery red gown, red sandals, and gauzy red wings!

"Who are you?!" I asked rudely.

"I am Tiabella" she said softly "But you can call me Tia" she added.

"Wait so what? Where are we? Why are we here? How are we here? What has happened? And - why us?" Lawrie asked, shooting questions at her. Luckily, she didn't dodge them as if they were bullets and gave us a straight answer(s).

"You have entered the Pearl Dimension. You were transported here by me, shrank by twenty times as small as you were and given wings, I guess while you're in the Pearl Dimension, you could class yourselves as fairies. You are here because we need your help - the Queen and King are in danger" she said with a flourish.

"You still haven't answered Lawrie's last question Tia. Why us?" I asked.

"You see nobody has been in this field for years-"

Lawrie cut her off "Hang on, I come here all the time"

"Yes, you come here alone, our kingdom needed one male, and one female, together, to complete this task"

"What task?" I asked Tia.

"The time of monarchy for our current King and Queen is now over" Tia said.

"And..."

"You two need to be our new King and Queen" she announced.

"What?" Lawrie said "What?!"

Tia grinned, looking bemused.

"Hang on, what do you mean?" I asked, confused.

"That is, if you want to"

Me and Lawrie exchanged considering looks, pondering over over whether or not this was just some twisted dream. It wasn't, clearly. A glittery contract appeared in Tia's left hand along with an inky black quill with a bright blue mocking bird feather. We exchanged glances and I saw Lawrie sigh and nod ever so slightly.

"So do you agree or disagree?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.

"We agree"

Lawrie took the quill and signed his inky signature.

I took the quill from his shaking hand and did likewise.
