Harry woke with a start, his uncle Vernon was pounding as hard as he could on his cupboard door. It amazed Harry how he could knock at all, when it took so much effort just to curl his giant hand into a fist. He pounded on the door again "Get out of there, boy!" "Come help your aunt with breakfast," he spat.
Harry sleepily yelled back "I'm coming!"
"Then hurry up!" Vernon growled as he stomped away. Harry waited until his uncle's labored footsteps receded down the hallway to come out of his little cupboard under the stairs. He had gotten Dudley's old room a couple weeks ago, but when he gets punished he has to sleep in his little cupboard. As he got dressed he remembered something, it was September 1st, today is the first day of Howarts! Two weeks ago he had finally received his Hogwarts letter from Hagrid, then last week Hagrid took him to buy his supplies in Diagon alley.
He ran upstairs to get his trunk, then dragged it down to the front door. He made his way to the kitchen, hoping if he helped it'd go by faster.
Dudley used to insult him every time he walked in the kitchen, now Dudley completely avoids him, ever since he was invited to Hogwarts, all of them began avoiding Harry. "So" Harry said, carefully wording what he'd say next "We have to go to the train station after breakfast."
"Why?" Vernon spat obviously not thinking before he spoke. Harry knew talking about the wizarding world around his Aunt and Uncle was like walking on ice.
Harry nervously replied "I need to board the H...Hog...."
Harry stuttered, and was immediately interrupted by his Uncle "Spit it out already, boy!"
Harry took a deep breath and started again, this time with more confidence "I need to board the Hogwarts express." Then he paused, while The Dursley's gasped at the mention of Hogwarts. Uncle Vernon looked as if he was about to explode.
Harry had to cover his face to hide his laughing at how purple his face was. Through gritted teeth Vernon said "You are not to mention that name in this house."
Harry was getting frustrated "But, it's the first day of...school, all you have to do is drop me off at the train station!" Petunia tutted in disproval as she led Dudley out of the kitchen with her hands over his ears. Harry smirked at his glaring cousin as his Uncle agreed to drop him off then leave immediately after.
Half an hour later he was cramped next to Dudley in the back seat, on the way to the train station, a weird feeling he hadn't had in forever began rising inside him, finally going to get a way from his aunt, uncle, and cousin.
