☾scarlett☽
i woke up to a pair of blue eyes staring into my own. i screamed, naturally, and sat up so fast that i nearly smacked my forehead to luke's, who was currently smirking beside my bed. "you fucking asshole," i said, clutching my chest as he chortled, raising an eyebrow. "oh, let it go," he said, smiling genuinely as i rolled my eyes, clambering out of bed and thanking based god that i had pants on.
"i have plans for us today," he announced, booping my nose with his finger as i just came out of the bathroom from changing. "why are you being so unluke?" i questioned cautiously, not trusting his kind attitude towards me for a second. "because you're mine now," he said cheerily, and i cocked my head. "i'll explain later," he said, waving his hand in the air, and i caught a glimpse of the same crescent brand he had burned into my skin on his wrist. "so," he said, and i was knocked back into reality. "i'm going to introduce you to my father today, at lunch." he said it so causally. i immediately spun around, facing him. "what the hell?! no! your dad is literally satan," i said, breathing quickly. the mere thought is literally terrifying. "oh, chill. he's just like a normal guy, just, a demon that rules the gates of hell," luke dismissed, and i sighed. "you don't really have a choice," luke said, and i rolled my eyes, knowing that he'd make me go to meet him sooner or later. it almost felt like a normal situation, meeting the parents. except, this wasn't normal at all. we were stuck in an ageless hotel. not the most desirable conditions.
"actually, we need to leave, now." luke got up, and pulled me up, but not letting go of my hand. i didn't like how he was acting. something had to be up, and i thought something. there's a difference between possession and love. and i was pretty sure that luke was incapable of love, and that i was nothing more than a pretty necklace to him, or a notch in a belt.
the thought made me sick.
he led me downstairs, and michael was in the foyer, giving me a face that resembled sadness, jealousy, and questioning. i shrugged, mouthing "i don't know" before he disappeared up the red carpeted stairs. luke opened a door that i was sure hasn't been there before, and it lead us into a completely white room. "so, this is where we'll be meeting him," luke said nonchalantly, and i gulped. "now, you need to remember that my dad is... testy. and judgmental, so don't be surprised if he's an asshole," luke chuckled, and i wanted to cry, this was so terrifying. suddenly, the room began to shake, and we were standing in a garden, outside. like, a vineyard. i breathed in the sweet air, and turned to see a table with a middle aged man in a pinstriped suit sitting, with his back to us. luke cleared his throat, gesturing to the table as we both sat down, the man turning his body to us as we sat. "hey dad," luke sighed.
the man was bald, with ice blue eyes that made you want to bow down and cry. his skin was light, and he was extremely broad and imposing. it was so hard to know that this man was indeed satan, and i wanted to run away. luke, under the table, laced our fingers together, and squeezed, like reassurance. but that couldn't be right. luke didn't care about me.
"hello, lukecifer," satan said, his voice smooth and cold, like stainless steel. he then turned his attention to me, smiling sickly. "and who is this lovely little mortal who accompanied you?" luke swallowed. "this is scarlett," he said, and i nodded weakly, trying to smile. "hello dear," he said. "hi," my voice shook, and luke still hadn't let go of my hand. i felt him trace over the crescent. "isn't Rome beautiful?" he said, looking around us as i focused on the dust motes swirling around in the shaded area. "b- beautiful," i stammered. he chuckled, as if amused by my terror. "Rome was always my favorite place, and considering i can go anywhere i want, i almost always come here. after all, sin and death is everywhere, even in the most innocent seeming places. drinks?" he said, and there was suddenly wine on the table, with three glasses. luke nodded, and the man poured two glasses. "and you, dear?" he said, and i shook my head. "no thank you, sir," i said quietly, trying to gently tug my hand out of luke's grasp, but he held tight. satan shrugged, sipping his wine before leaning forward and smiling at me. i was uneasy, and just wanted to go back to the hotel. "darling, can i ask a favor?" satan said, and luke tensed up next to me, his hands unsteady as he shakily brought the glass of wine to his lips. "um, sure.." i said quietly, and luke tightened his grip on my still unseeable branded hand under the table so hard that it started to hurt.
"can i see your hand?" i felt my face drain of color, as i showed him the hand on the table, and he took it in his cold grip. he chuckled, shaking his head as his eyes narrowed.
" stop trying to play games."
i felt luke shaking next to me. i was so confused, and had no idea what was going on. i breathed deeply, and took my hand away from lukes, and this time, he didn't resist, and brought it up to the table. i saw the man's eyes immediately zero in on the brand, and he looked down, chuckling darkly. "oh my, luke. i thought we weren't going to play this game anymore."
what the fuck was going on?! i looked at luke, and his face was red, not even trying to hide the sheer panic and anger on his face. "don't try anything." he gritted his teeth, snatching my hand away from his grasp. "i claimed her." satan laughed. "yes, but i don't care, i am your father, and my power is so much greater than yours. this was a great time," he said, smiling in a way that didn't make him look human. i felt a tear roll down my cheek, and with that luke jumped up. "oh yes, i'm going to enjoy this game, very much." "STAY AWAY FROM HER!" luke screamed, and then, a second later, we were standing in the foyer of the hotel. "luke, what the hell was that?!" i was nearly crying, and he was pacing, hands tugging on his hair as he swore under his breath. "my- my dad likes to play games. to see people suffer," luke said softly, and i looked at him in pure terror. "he wants to take you and torture you," he said, and i lost it. i started bawling, not caring what i looked like. i didn't deserve this! i was just a teenager, and now i'm into all this shit. luke made his way over to me, and sat down right next me, whispering comforting things to me, as i buried my face into his neck and cried. i didn't care that he was luke, i just needed comfort, no matter who the person. "i'll keep you safe," he whispered to me, and i just sat there, crying, in the arms of a being that was satan's son, in the room of a hotel that was a prison, in the middle of the desert.
