She stood up slowly between Bobby and Dean as the roof to the barn began to shake and the shingles began to move up. She met her father’s eyes, both asking the same question in their minds. Was it really a good idea to summon whatever had pulled Dean out of Hell? Just thinking about what had happened to Pamela, she hadn’t thought it was a good idea, but Dean insisted and because he had, her father had wanted to go with, which was the reason was why she was standing here with them. She always went where her father went. As the room kept shaking, she moved her hand behind her back to make sure the blade was still there. After a smart ass, but hopeful statement from Dean the lights began to explode. She covered her eyes as the glass fell directly on her. She heard the doors to the barn crack and open, she kept her hear low, but pulled the knife out from behind her back as a man walked through the now open door.
Bobby and Dean began to shot at him with their guns, but the bullets appeared to go straight through the man. She didn’t even bother to throw her knife. She was sure it would have no effect on the creature that stood in front of them. The man continued to walk towards them and Dean moved to pick up his knife. She had to stop for a moment and gap… meaning her mouth was probably hanging open. This is man was probably the most handsome man she had ever seen. He was around five feet eleven with dark hair. He wore a suit with a blue tie and a long tan trench coat. She couldn’t tell what color his eyes were since he was looking directly at Dean.
“Who the hell are you?” Dean asked gripping the knife tightly behind his back.
“I am the one who gripped you tight and raised you from perdition” He spoke softly.
“Yeah, well thanks for that” Dean growled as he moved. He brought his knife out and stabbed the man in the chest. Nothing happened. The man pulled the knife out and threw it on the ground. Dean looked behind the man to Bobby, who raised a crowbar to hit him. The man turned caught the crowbar and touched Bobby’s forehead. He fell unconscious to the floor.
“Dad” She cried as she moved to kneel down beside her father.
“We need to talk, Dean” the man spoke again, looking at Dean with no emotion on his face. She stood up slowly. Dean moved next to Bobby leaning over him, staring down at Bobby for a moment before he turned to look at the man, who was shifting through the book on the table. “Your friend is alive.”
“Who are you?”
“Castiel” he didn’t even look up from the book.
“I got that, but what are you?” Dean hadn’t moved from where he was kneeling. She noticed he never took his eyes off of Castiel. That caused Castiel to look up at him, a spark of interest passing through him.
“I am an angel of the Lord” He spoke matter of factly.
“A what?” She asked the same question that Dean was thinking. He raised slowly up to his full height.
“Get the hell out of here. Because they don’t exist” Dean’s tone was angry. He looked angry. She moved away from her father towards Dean.
“This is your problem Dean, you have no faith” Castiel moved away from the table to stand in front of a wall in the barn. Lightening stuck across the sky and on the wall behind him, the shadow of unfolding wings appeared. She covered her mouth to keep from gasping.
“Some angel you are, you burned out that poor woman’s eyes” Dean sighed and she watched them.
“Why?” She asked softly.
“Wait your turn, Kendra” Castiel looked at her for a moment, and she felt herself blush as she met his blue eyes. Something passed across his face, but she couldn’t tell what it was before it was gone. “I warned her not to spy on an angel… it can be over whelming. And so can my real voice. You already knew that”
“The gas station?” Dean and Kendra asked at the same time. Dean had told her about it. There’s not much that he didn’t tell her, they were like brother and sister. Castiel nodded. “Next time buddy, lower the volume.”
“It was mistake, Certain people, special people, can perceive my true visage. I thought you would be one of them. I was wrong.” Castiel lowered his gaze for a moment before looking at the most of them
“And what visage are you in now, what, holy tax accountant?” Dean’s voice was annoyed
“Actually I was going to go with lawyer” Kendra leaned her head in close to Dean and the angel did something she didn’t think he has ever done before. He glared at Dean.
“This… this is a vessel” He looked down at himself pulling on his coat.
“You’re possessing some poor bastard?” Dean looked at Kendra, then back at Castiel whose eyes were on Kendra, she was starting feeling a bit uneasy with an angel staring at her.
“He’s a devout man, he asked for this” Castiel’s eyes moved from her face to met Dean’s eyes.
“Well I’m not buying what you’re selling” Dean replied and Kendra rolled her eyes. She loved him like a big brother, but he could be such an ass hole sometimes. “So, who are you really?”
“I told you”
“Oh right, angel, and why would an angel rescue me from hell?”
“Good things happen to people” Castiel was trying not to sigh in frustration. Kendra could see it, she had that feeling all the time.
“Not in my experience” Dean sighed.
“What’s the matter?” Castiel walked closer to Dean before he cocked his head slightly to the left. “You don’t think you deserve to be saved?”
“He never has” Kendra said softly from next to Dean.
“Why’d you do it?” Dean asked before the conversation got any more uncomfortable for him.
“Because the Lord commanded it, because we have work for you”
Kendra and Dean looked at each other, what kind of work did the lord have for Dean. He didn’t even believe in God.
