Chapter four: The Game
Cessy's Pov
When we arrived at the internet cafe, I chose a seat at the last unit, and they followed suit. I invited them to play a 1 vs. 2 game.
"1 vs. 2," I suggested.
"Sure... Louis, you team up with Cessy. I'll go against you both," Chris said.
"No... I mean, it's me versus you two," I clarified.
"Do you know how to play?" Louis asked.
"I'm here to play. Of course, I know how," I replied. Did they think I couldn't play just because I'm a girl?
"But you're a girl," Ace chimed in. Seriously? Just because I'm a girl, I can't play games?
"Some girls know how to play, sometimes they're even better than you," I retorted.
"Hahaha... Okay, if you lose, you treat me a food," Chris said. I guess he's a food lover, after all.
"A book for me," Louis added.
"Alright, if you two lose, you'll buy me food and books," I said with a smirk.
"Deal?" I extended my hand, and we shook on it before deciding which game to play.
"What game should we play?" Louis asked.
"How about Counter-Strike? Cessy, get ready to lose, muahahaha," Chris said confidently.
"I think you're the one who should be ready" I put on the headset and prepared myself for the game. It was time to show them that I wasn't to be underestimated.
As the game started, I focused all my skills and determination to prove that being a girl had nothing to do with my gaming abilities. With each move, I surprised them, and soon, their confident expressions began to change.
"Hmm, you're actually pretty good," Chris admitted with a hint of surprise.
"Yeah, don't judge a book by its cover," I replied, smiling.
The game continued, and as it progressed, I managed to outmaneuver them several times, earning some impressive kills and wins. Their playful banter turned into genuine competitiveness as they tried their best to defeat me.
"Come on, guys, you can do better than that," I teased, enjoying the thrill of the game.
Eventually, the time was up, and I emerged as the clear winner. Chris and Louis looked a bit stunned but also impressed by my skills.
"Well, I guess we owe you some food and books," Chris said, laughing.
"Don't worry I'll gladly take my prizes," I replied with a grin.
"Pre tignan mo yung babae ang astig niya "
"HAHAHA talo yung dalawang lalake... Ang weweak pala"
"Talo yung dalawang lalake sa isang babae"
"Astig pala ni miss nerd"
"Miss nerd! Miss nerd!"
"Boo wala pala kayo sa isang babae"
"Boooom !! Natalo yung dalawa"
"Arghh.... Di ko makapaniwala na natalo ako sa isang babae" Chris said in disbelief.
"Good game Sy" said louis.
"Bat mo ko natalo... Eh ako ang pinakamagaling sa laro niyan eh... Wahh! "Chris started whining
"Oyy wag ka ngang mag ingay diyan para kang bata" louis
"Eh gutom na gutom na ako ehh kanina pa... Makakain na dapat ako kung natalo ko yan si Sy" Chris continued whining while touching his stomach, indicating that his belly was hungry.
"Buy me food and also books, remember the deal," I said with a smirk on my face.
"Huhuhu," Chris whined.
"Shut up, you look like a kid whose lollipop got stolen," I teased.
"Hmmp..." Chris pouted.
"Tssk, childish," I remarked.
"Sy pwede bang mag tagalog ka naman, Nasa pilipinas tayo oh... Pareho lang pala kayo ni Ace, mga englishero't englishera.. "Chris
"I don't care," I replied.
"Tchh," Chris grumbled.
"Let's go," Louis said.
"Where?" I asked.
"To the mall," Louis answered.
"Ohh, okay..." I wanted to buy books about murderers or detective stories... Hahaha.
...
When we got inside the mall, the first thing I wanted to buy was the books. So we went to the national bookstore.
As we walked along, we couldn't avoid overhearing the whispers. I don't know if it's still considered a whisper if you can hear what they're saying.
