Chapter 2

The game starts in silence. Everyone awkwardly adjusting their shoes, checking their phones, or practicing their swings. I check my phone to look at the time and see that my mom sent me a text.

Hey honey hope you're having fun. I have to work late tonight. Left you $20 on the counter to order pizza. You can have Kristen over if you want.

Mom

I pass my phone over to Kristen so she can see the message as well. She reads it then looks back up at me grinning and nodding. Calum sees us and grabs my phone before either of us can object. I see him scanning his eyes through the message.

"You know Piper, I love pizza." Calum says dragging out the love.

"Oh do you now?" I say back to Calum with a bit of playfulness in my voice

"Well if it's alright with you how about we all go hang out at your place after the game?" Calum says as he asks for my permission.

"Yeah sure it's fine with me." I say smiling.

"Awesome," he says to me, "Hey guys we're going to head back to Piper's after the game." He announces to the other boys.

The game went by pretty fast. I'm an awful bowler so I came in dead last but I was able to get a couple spares. Michael ended up winning and Calum owed him $20 because of a bet they had on the game. It was all pretty fun everyone was having a good time and laughing except for Ashton who just kept on being an ass to me. I know that him and his girlfriend had just broken up but that doesn't just give him a free pass to be rude to me.

I was in the process of tying my shoes when I see Ashton come over and sit down in the chair next to me. I start preparing for his insults to be thrown my way but I was completely surprised by the words that came out of his mouth.

"Um I ugh wanted t-to just say that I'll stop playing my drums so late." He says in practically a whisper that I could barely hear him.

"Thanks, it'll be much appreciated from everyone on our block." I say with a slight chuckle. I pulled the strings of my shoe to tighten it into a double knot and get up to go over to the others but I notice that Ashton is still sat on the chair just staring at his hands.

"Hey dickhead, you coming?" I say in a playful tone.

"Sure why not." He says getting up and following me. No one besides Kristen, Ashton, and me know how to get to my house so established that we'll drive ahead and lead the way while everyone else follows.

I get into the car with Kristen and buckle my seat belt because you know "click it or get a ticket". We're driving for a grand total of 30 seconds before I asked my burning question.

"So Kristen sweetie what the hell is going on with you and Luke because you and I both know this is not a 'just friends' situation anymore." I state. Hoping to get a straight answer out of her.

"Oh my god Piper!! Don't even joke about that." She says flustered.

"Oh come on you've had a crush on him since 6th grade! And it's so obvious that he likes you back." I say stating facts.

"Is it really?" She says in an excited and shocked voice.

"Yes!! Just trust me on this. You know how good I am at reading people." I say back to her.

"Is that a joke? You're absolutely awful at reading people." She says laughing.

"I am offended that you would even think that." I say sarcastically.

"Yeah okay. Anyways you know how Ashton said that him and Mia broke up?" She says changing the subject.

"Yes I do indeed." I say in my weird idiot slang.

"Well I heard this back about a month ago but I was told that she was sleeping with this one guy Charlie and had been since she started dating Ashton. You know Charlie, he was the one guy that lent you a dollar sophomore year to get a water bottle after we did the bean boozled challenge during lunch and you got one of the nasty ass ones. Well anyways a video of them having sex got leaked last night and I'm guessing that's why they broke up." She says explaining everything to me. I couldn't help but feel really bad for Ashton. I still hate him but no one should have to find out that their girlfriend was cheating on them from some video going around.

"Holy shit." Is the only thing I could muster out I was just so shocked but the whole situation.

"I know it's crazy. Poor guy though." She says sympathetically and I nod. I reach over for the AUX cord and decide to play Cigarette Daydreams by Cage the Elephant because I've always been a firm believer that music should always be played in a car.

"Hey after this song play the 1975 I need to hear my sweet baby's voice." She says referring to Matty Healy.

"Why of course." I agree willingly since I loved the 1975 too. We drove for about 5 more minutes and got through both our desired songs before we got to my house and pulled into the drive way. We get out and she the boys pull into my drive way as well and Ashton parks in his own drive way since he's my neighbor and there is no need for him to park in my drive way. Everyone gets out of their car and while they make their way over to Kristen and me I enter in my garage code and wait for the garage door to go up. It goes up and I go to the door and enter into my house everyone else following behind.

"Just make yourselves at home if you want something from the fridge go for it I really don't care." I say letting everyone know.

"I will definitely take you up on that offer." Says Calum as he opens up my fridge and starts to raid it. I just start laughing at his excitement.

"Oh also we can order the pizza whenever but if you guys want we have a fire pit so we can make some s'mores." I suggest.

"FUCK YEAH!" I hear Michael yell mere seconds after I say s'mores.

"Alright great!" I say laughing once again.

"I'll be right back." Ashton says to the group.

"Okay dude." Luke says to Ashton.

"It's already 7:00 so I'm going to order the pizza right now. Piper can you set up the fire pit and we can all hang out around it and chill?" Calum asks.

"Yeah sure of course." I say. I go to open the sliding door to the porch and Kristen comes to help me set up I assume. I have a fire pit where all you have to do is turn of the gas and light it so I do just that and Kristen and I sit down while all the other boys come out and do just the same.

We all just sit there making small talk joking around watching the sky get dark at an increasingly fast speed when I finally see Ashton walking over from his year with something in his hands. As he gets closer I can finally see what it is.

"Who wants to get drunk?" He asks holding up 4 bottles of vodka. 2 bottles in each hand.

Hey guys it's been forever since I've updated I'm really sorry about that but today I just felt like writing and so I went on my wattpad account and noticed that this fic was getting some love and I had people voting for it and adding it to their libraries. It made me so happy so I decided to update! I'm going to write some more after this but hopefully I'll update at least once a week. I'll try to get another chapter out tomorrow but I'm so busy tomorrow but I will try my hardest. I want these to be decent sized chapters too.
