I take a step back and look at the front door, then back at the box, It is a flag, a paper, and a name plaque. The plaque reads,
"Command SSG Wells"
I just blink, thinking about what this means. I grab my phone and ring my mom. after two rings I get her voicemail. I try again. Same thing. I sigh and take the box to my room, laying down needing to think for a minute. that minute turned into two hours.
I look back into the box and see the paper. I take it out and the back of it has a giant "APPROVED" stamp on it. I turn it over and read the paper itself.
"In regards of Rachel Wells,
This will acknowledge receipt of your military orders that indicate you have been approved for Basic Traning at 04:00 on the 10th of March. Please be at the recruiting center at 0300."
I drop the paper and grab my phone, dialing my mother, one ring.. two rings... voicemail. Fuck
I try calling again. Two times turned into Ten and Ten into Fifteen. I give up and get my shoes on. I grab my earbuds and put them in and go for a run. After about an hour and a half, I end up at the one place she cant ignore me at.
