Awkward Dinner

Oliver POV

Awkward dinner. One words to describe this. This is so not us. I mean we have never been sitting in some formal dinner. This table is longer than our usual table I mean Jordan says it could probably fit 20 people at once. Here we are sitting at the end of table 5 of us. I sat next to Kean.

"There you go kid, you guys can eat now." The maid put down the last plate that have some sort of weird looking food, probably a chicken with sauce, wait who made chicken with sauce? Rich people are weird as fuck man. Then the maid told us to start eating.

"Why there is so many spoon?" Jordan ask while giving a confuse look to Kean.

"Normally no matter how many spoon there is only one spoon that use." Matt Kean said and grab the biggest spoon on the table. His act made all of us laugh.

I swear to god I have never seen Matt Kean did any joke. This is the first and it gave me some excitement. I mean he is totally different when he is at his own territory.

"You seems different here." Lee point out breaking the silent after our big laugh.

"Yeah, you kinda talk more." I add.

"We never have seen you like this also this spaghetti is awesome." Matt Nic said with a huge smile, the last word actually made all of us giggle.

"I don't know, maybe it is because.... you guys can actually accept me as who I am." Kean said that left all of us in awww but not for Jordan, Jordan actually just sprit out the drink.

"Hahaha... ofc we do." Jordan said awkwardly after the water spurt.

"Damnit you disgusting." Lee said.

"I am sorry I'm just pretty shocked." Jordan replied nicely while wiping his mouth with thousand dollar napkin I guess.

"I mean that is some honest answer right there." Jordan add and point his finger at Matt Kean.

"Yeah what you mean by 'accept me'?" I ask, wanted to know more.

"Well through out the year you guys treat me like a normal kid, and not some filthy rich teenager." Kean said and huffing out some air. Looking sad again.

"Well ofc you are filthy rich the fuck you talking about? Look this plate alone can paid the court to release my dad from prison." Matt Nic said bluntly.

We are all in shock, why the fuck he need to said something so obvious like that?

"I mean what Nic trying to said that, no matter if you are rich or not. We still are going to be your friend. Nothing change Kean, maybe the fact that we always act super dick towards you will change. We are truly sorry for that." I said with all my heart. I hope he accept my apology.

Nothing. Nothing in reply.

"Kean listen, we don't want your money or any of this. We want you, we need our bassist. The band ain't complete without you man." 10 years and finally something smart came out of Jordan mouth.

"Wow didn't know you had that in you." Matt Nic said to Jordan. Honestly why he gotta be the one who blew every great moment?

"Shut the fuck up Nic, we actually had a moment here." I said pissing off once again.

"Haha, its okay tho. I am part of the gang anyway. I will continue playing bassist. Actually the reason I left yesterday its not because of you guys hurt my feelings or anything. You guys never hurt me, I left because I actually remember that my dad supposed to come home at that time and I just forget it. That is why I ran away without saying anything, there is too much explanation." Kean said, pretty long that left all of us thinking is that even true? Or he just want to made some excuses so we didn't feel that bad.

"Speaking of your dad, where is he now? I need a prove." Matt Nic said sound kinda harsh. What is his problem? Why did he sound really mad since we first step our foot here?

"Actually my dad cancel his flight. That is why I never came back to you guys and locked myself in the bedroom. I'm sort of mad at him. He promise to came back to celebrate my birthday together but he never did, not since I was even born." Kean said looking at his plate, that all of the information it just left all of us speechless. How the fuck we didn't even know yesterday is Kean birthday? What type of friend are we?

"Wait it is your birthday yesterday? I.... we um...we are sorry we didn't knew that." Matt Nic said, I can see a regret in Matt Nic eyes. Well he learned his lesson I guess. He didn't seems mad anymore.

"Happy birthday Vegan, I love you. You are the best bassist ever." Jordan suddenly said and stand up from his seat and gave Kean a warm hug. Despite the 24/7 stupid behaviour from Jordan, when the right time came he is actually a pretty nice guy.

"Thanks Jordie." Kean said and reply the hug.

"Happy 17 birthday kiddo." Matt Nic said and throw a bread at him.

"And now don't you kid start a food fight." Chester, the butler said to us but he actually just gave us an idea.

"Oh who am I kidding?" Chester said to himself.

"Food fight!" Kean shout. Damn first time I have ever heard him shouting. Well there is a first time to everything.

Instead of joining our food fight. I saw Lee grab a couple of plate and sat next to Chester. He then eat it rapidly.

"Smart choice young man." I hear Chester said to Lee and smiling big.

"I prefer peace than war." Lee said that gave that old man a laugh. Lmao Lee is the smartest among us I can agree with that.

"Holy shit I ran out of thing to throw and I can't throw this plate either." I heard Jordan scream.

"I gave up!" Matt Nic add.

"Yes we win take that jokerssss." Matt Kean said and hold my hand up in the air.

The thought of Kean holding my hand is straight out feeling weird. Its not like he never did it but the atmosphere around here, around this mansion giving it a weird vibe. Suddenly when he hug me, the victory hug seems like more than just a hug between winner. Its seems different it left a butterfly in my stomach. It left me in a shock and I couldn't move a muscle.

"Dude for the first time ever we won against them!" Kean said after releasing the hug.

"Oli are you alright? Oli? Oliver?" Kean said shaking my shoulder a little bit.

That shake brought me back to the world. I see the blue eyes of Kean its drowning me in so many thoughts. His face that full of savoury liquid and spaghetti that stuck in his hair its supposed to seem funny but it actually seems cute to me. Hah, Kean is actually cute. How am I supposed to not notice it before?

"Yeah we win, take that sucker." I said pretend to even know what was going on after that long stare at Kean eyes. He must think that I'm crazy.

"Okay up up you kid go." The butler said.

"Go take shower all of you except you, you can continue eat the food and wait for the dessert. You the only one who deserves a dessert." Chester said and push Kean and me towards the elevator.

"Wait we can't have the dessert?" Jordan said with a sad eyes.

"Who care Jordie? We can take shower at this house that is more awesome." Matt Nic said with a laugh.

"I'm just kidding you all can have the dessert but after the shower." The butler said and we all shouted in joy.

Huh what a day today. At least Kean is happy again. Never saw that big smile on his face. It is beautiful.
