*Ash's POV*
My head pounded as I sat up. I had no idea where I was. It was on some bed but whose, why, and how were still a mystery to me. The alarm clock next to the bed read... midnight? Had I really slept that long? I slowly got up from the bed and moved to the door of the room.

The hallway outside was dark and no other lights were on. I realized gauze had been wrapped all along my chest and back. Who had done that? And why?
I crept down the stairs still without any people coming to see me. I needed to find my brother.

"Dang dude what is it with you and midnight hours?"
I spun around and saw... nothing?
"You were looking right at me."
I turned around again and saw the boy from the bridge rising from the couch. I swear this kid had something coming.

"This your house?" I asked with annoyance.
"Yep. Make yourself right at home."
"I'd rather not."
"I don't know who you are, and I bring you into my house to try and help you and you still want to go back to that sociopath. Why?"
"It's not for you to know." I snarked.
"I don't care. You can't go back to that household just to die at the snap of a belt."
"I have bigger problems than a belt." I told him. Wait-
"Like what? Keeping your brother alive? You can't do that if you're dead." He retorted.
"Again. That isn't your problem." I snapped at him. I gruffy pushed past him to try and find my brother. The action pushed a red hot poker against my back nearly making me pass out again. I could barely breathe. I continued like I felt no pain. He followed me around the house until I happened upon the guest room. Daniel slept peacefully on the bed, exhausted. I shook him awake and helped him out of bed. All the while, the boy said nothing.
I unlocked the front door and me and Daniel walked into the cold. The boy said nothing. The sky was slowly lightening. But the future continually looked bleaker and bleaker.
