Chapter 8: the noose

Detective: Clover faked her suicide once, who says that she hadn't done it again?

Principal: I'll call Miss Evergreen's parents, we can ask them to have an interview.

Detective: Good idea, Principal Groff.

Principal on the phone: Hello, Mrs Evergreen, it's principal Groff, would you be able to come over to Cortez High as soon as possible so we can ask you some questions about Clover, I understand that this is hard for you, but we can get a step closer to finding her.

The principal finished talking on the phone.

Principal: you may all go back to your lessons.

*1 hour later*

Clover's parents, Misty and Zac, arrived at Cortez high, she was greeted by the principal outside of the high school.

Misty: Sorry ablou' dat, a lot o' traffic.

Misty was from Alabama.

Principal: that is alright, please come inside.

The principal directed them into the office, the detective was waiting there with a notebook and pen.

Detective: Mrs Evergreen, Mr Evergreen. Please sit.

Misty and Zac day down, Misty grabbed Zac's hand.

Detective: were you aware that your daughter was a suicidal junkie?

Zac: we knew that she took drugs, because we grew a lot of weed, but we didn't know about the hypodermic needles, or the suicide.

Detective: right, well I'm sure that you're aware that she faked her suicide once.

Misty: we knew, we knew dat it was fake.

Detective: but you just said that you didn't know about the suicide?

Zac: we knew that she was upset, and that she faked it, we knew that she went to Harley's.

Detective: why didn't you go and look for her?

Misty: Clover could take care of 'erself, we trusted 'er, and if she's 'avin a harsh time, then we can just leave 'er to it, it's what was best for 'er.

Detective: even though you trusted her, shouldn't you still be concerned for your daughter's safety?

Zac: she was an accident, Misty tried to have a miscarriage, but it didn't work, we never wanted Clover.

The detective looked shocked.

Detective: you, Zac Evergreen and you Misty Evergreen, are suspects of the Clover Evergreen case, do you understand that!?

Misty: we never wanted 'er dead, we just didn't want 'er to be our problem.

Detective: are you admitting to the murder of your daughter?

Zac: no! We would never hurt her!

Detective: I'm sorry but you two are going into custody.

Misty: wait!

Detective: what do you have to say?

Misty: she took a noose wit 'er to the party, saying that she was gonna do it.

Detective: we will look into it, but for now, you two are suspects of murder.

Detective: leave.

Misty and Zac drive back to their farm.

*3 days later*

Kit and Rain were escorted into the principal's office.

Detective: we are going to need to do another investigation at your house, is that alright with you?

Kit: our parents are out of town right now so Rain has the keys.

Detective: can we please have the keys Rain?

Rain: ok.

Rain searched through her purse and found her house keys.

Detective: thank you, Miss Walker.

*2 hours later*

The detective entered the Walker's house looking for clues, the detective didn't find anything. When she almost gave up she found a hatch, it was locked. She grabbed the house keys and found one that would unlock the hatch.

Detective: OH MY GOD!
