Regina's POV

"Regina Mills?" Emma and I stand up and follow the nurse.

"I'll ask you some questions and then the doctor will be in shortly."

"Okay."

"You can lay down if you'd like. The doctor will tell you to anyway." I nod and get on the bed. Emma stands next to the bed.

"When did you start getting pregnancy symptoms? And if not why do you think you're pregnant."

"Um.... three months ago is when the symptoms started. I missed my period which I never miss it so I was scared but I thought that maybe it happens sometimes I guess and then like three weeks later I realized I was throwing up a lot in the morning especially. Then I missed my period again and started using the restroom frequently within the second month."

"I'll ask you some questions or more symptoms just tell me one a scale of one the ten how bad or different it's been okay?"

"Tender breasts?"

"Yes, 4."

"Fatigue?"

"A little and maybe a 2."

"Cramping like a period but obviously not one."

"Yes, 7."

"Nausea without vomiting?"

"Yes and 5."

"Food cravings?"

"Yes, a 5."

"Headaches?"

"No."

"Constipation?"

"No."

"Dizziness?"

"Yes and maybe a 2."

"Mood Swings?"

"Yes and a 12." Emma answers and the nurse laughs. I shake my head. I smack her arm.

"Emma!"

"It's true." I roll my eyes. There's a knock on the door and a doctor walks in.

"Hi I'm Doctor Kirsten Casey you can call me Doctor Kirsten or Dr Casey whatever you like, let's see this baby okay?" I take in a breath looking at Emma.

"Okay."

"First kid?" She asks.

"That noticeable?"

"No but I know all my patients."

"Oh. Well yeah."

"Don't be. Most people are nervous for no reason."

"I guess so."

"So you two together?" She asks.

"Um... no just friends. Moral support." Emma says.

"Oh do you know the father? Or would you like a test done? I'm so sorry, I know that sounds so bad. I have to ask."

"It's okay and no test. I know who the father is."

"Okay great. Can you lift your shirt for me. Just over your stomach so I can put the gel on. It's going to be a little cold." I lift it up and she puts a stick with gel on my stomach.

"Okay now lets see your baby." She moves it around on my stomach and stops.

"There's your baby. I can zoom in for you." Tears fill my eyes and I smile.

"Wow." I say.

"It's a wonderful thing right. You're growing a fully working baby in there. In only nine months. Crazy how you can make a baby and push it but if you twist your ankle you're in a cast and then can never walk the same." I laugh. And she smiles and turns it more to me.

"At the end of the third month, your baby is about 7.6 -10 cm (3-4 inches) long and weighs about 28g (1 ounce). Since your baby's most critical development has taken place, your chance of miscarriage drops considerably after three months into the pregnancy. By the end of the third month of pregnancy, your baby is fully formed. Your baby has arms, hands, fingers, feet, and toes and can open and close it's tiny fists and mouth. Fingernails and toenails are beginning to develop and the external ears are formed. The beginnings of teeth are forming. Your baby's reproductive organs also develop, but the baby's gender is difficult to distinguish on ultrasound. The circulatory and urinary systems are working and the liver produces bile. So everything looks fine. You've survived the second hardest part." She says.

"What's the first?"

"Birth. In the first three months that's when most people loose the baby. You're about more than halfway throught and everything looks good. Just keep eating healthy. Or whatever the baby wants. The obvious of no drinking or smoking or drugs which I doubt you do. You can still have sex it's doesn't harm the baby at all. He or she won't even know."

"Anything I shouldn't do?"

"Don't sleep on your stomach. You aren't showing but I'm guess gaining a few pounds or less which is normal. Most people like to work out so it's not too hard to get back into shape after birth. And that's all. You're perfect and your baby is perfect as well."

"Okay. Thank you."

"No problem it's what I'm here for. And..." She looks at Emma.

"Mood swings change a lot more into the pregnancy it's like one nine month long period. If she cries hold her and get her favorite take out. If she's angry stay away but don't ignore. She may start to get sad and be depressed they all go through the 'I'm getting fat' phase and cry. It's normal."

"Why are you telling me this?"

"I'm not stupid. But don't worry. I won't tell anyone that your dating your mom's best friend."

"How do you now Mary?" I ask confused.

"You were my doctor when I first came?" Emma asks.

"Yes but only once and you were free to go. Don't worry if Mary or David decide to come with you I won't say a word about Emma being the father. It's firstly confidential and I don't want to ruin what you two have. But you'll start really showing at five months. For now you could just say your bloated."

"Thank you so much."

"Of course if anything happens. Here's my card with my number and my office hours. Have a good one." She cleans my stomach and leaves.

"Healthy baby and healthy mommy. You go peanut." Emma kisses and high fives my stomach softly and then kisses me.

"So cute." I say smiling.

"Babe ew." I laugh and she helps me off the bed.
