Mean's POV

I tried to sleep but the thought of P'Chao and P'Plan spending the night together kept me wide awake. I knew that my imagination was working overtime as images of P'Chao kissing P'Plan and P'Plan kissing him back ran through my mind.

I hated myself for giving in to my jealous emotions. I absolutely had no reason to feel jealous. We were not in a relationship for crying out loud. P'Plan looked on me as a friend, a younger brother maybe, nothing more.

Against my pride, I tried to video call P'Plan. He did not pick up.

I decided to text him instead.

Hey, buddy, you still up? Any plans for tomorrow? I thought we could hang out in the afternoon or evening.

When I did not get any reply to my text I decided to turn off the lights and hoped that sleep would eventually come to me.

It was almost daylight when my overworked brain finally succumbed to sleep. Because my body tried to make up for the lost hours of sleep, I did not awaken till noon and only because the growling sounds from my stomach woke me up.

I went to the kitchen to find something to eat.

As I rummaged through the cabinets my phone sounded off with a text notification.

It was P'Plan. Finally he found some time to communicate with his broken-hearted buddy.

Hey, sorry I didn't see your missed call and missed text until just now.

Yeah, because you were busy kissing P'Chao, I thought.

I will be free this afternoon but I have somewhere to go in the evening.

Yeah, because you'll be spending another evening with P'Chao, I thought again.

I decided not to reply to his text. Instead I took out a couple eggs from the egg tray inside the fridge and sprayed a small quantity of cooking oil onto a pan, placed it on the stove and made myself a plate of scrambled eggs. Then I took a couple of slices of bread and placed them inside the toaster. I also poured some orange juice from a carton into a glass.

I was scooping a forkful of the scrambled egg into my mouth when my phone sounded another text notification.

Again it was from P'Plan. I wiped the oil from my fingers with my table napkin before taking a big gulp of orange juice from my glass and then picked up my phone to read his text.

We could watch a movie together this afternoon if you want.

Suddenly I had an idea. I was going to find a way to keep him with me all afternoon until evening and make him miss his evening date with P'Chao.

A movie sounds good to me. Let's watch one at my place though. There aren't many good ones showing in the theaters right now.

That's fine with me. What time do you want me to show up at your place?

In an hour?

Okay, see you in an hour, my friend.

Yeah, I thought with an aching heart, I am just your friend.

After my very late breakfast, I brushed my teeth and took a shower.

I felt embarrassed dabbing some cologne on either side of my jaw. I felt like a nervous guy preparing for a date, trying to make myself look and smell good for my date.

After I felt satisfied with my choice of clothes and hairstyle, I went out to my living room and started sorting through my list of purchased movies.

I found a Thai romance drama called "Always By Your Side". It was about a couple whose parents had found a way to keep them separated because, unknown to the lovebirds, their parents and grandparents had an ongoing feud.  In the end, they defied their parents' wishes and chose to be together.

Exactly an hour after our text communication, my front door buzzed and I let P'Plan in. He was carrying a box of pizza.

My eyes widened when I saw his other hand holding a six-pack of beer.
