Plan's POV
In the end, Mean had to give in to his father's wishes.
I listened with an aching heart as he explained to me that there was no one else whom his father could trust to run the Taiwan branch. The last manager who ran the smaller branch outside of Bangkok was a non-family member who embezzled the profits of the company making it almost go bankrupt. His father did not want to run the risk with the Taiwan branch.
Mean promised me that he would be continuously in touch with me and would be flying back on the weekends, every weekend if possible.
I did not want to see him off at the airport because his parents were going to be there and I wasn't prepared to meet his parents. I had no idea how they would react to me. I felt it was best for Mean to make it a purely family get together at the airport.
I was gloomily puttering about in my kitchen, wondering what I could do with the frozen pack of assorted seafood in my fridge when my phone sounded off with a text notification.
It was from P'Chao.
Hey, I haven't heard from you in a long time. You never returned my video call. What have you been up to?
Up to no good 😁
You wanna meet up with me?
Where at?
You wanna hang out with me at my place?
I hesitated. The last time that I hung out at his place I almost lost my virginity.
I was just about to cook dinner for myself.
Let me cook it for you at my place.
I had to give this guy an A+ for persistence.
Alright then.
I kept my fingers crossed that I would be able to ward off any physical intimacy at his place.
Pick you up in an hour?
Sure.
I showered and changed into casual clothes. I actually hated my latest hairstyle but next time I was going to fight it out with the hairstylist assigned to me by my manager and insist on the hairstyle that I wanted and that I knew suited the shape of my face. This latest one made my face rounder which i absolutely hated because I had recently gained a few pounds.
Exactly an hour later P'Chao came to pick me up.
He gave me a buddy hug and opened the passenger door of his car for me.
"So how you been?" he asked as he started his car.
"I miss Mean," that just slipped out. I didn't mean to say it. I couldn't take it back now.
"What?" he asked.
I wondered if he really didn't hear me the first time or if the reason he asked was because he couldn't believe what he just heard.
"Well, Mean and I have been spending some time together lately and we enjoyed each other's company but now he has to be in Taiwan to run a family business there," I explained.
"Oh, he's in Taiwan right now?" P'Chao asked happily.
Shit, I wondered if I should not have given him that information.
"How long is he gonna be there?" P'Chao asked.
"For as long as it takes," I said gloomily, "but he promised to be here on the weekends."
"I must make up for his absence so that you don't feel too abandoned," said P'Chao.
"No, he hasn't abandoned me," I protested.
"What do you call it then? He is in Taiwan and you are here in Bangkok. What would you call this situation, huh?'
I kept quiet because P'Chao seemed to look angry.
