"Just go buy me some weed if you want the money. Remember our deal?"

In case you don't know what's going on here, I asked my best friend for some money. We have this thing called a "pay back policy". If I need something, then I have to return the favor. It could be anything he asked for, except something that might ruin our friendship.

I got a ticket for running a stop sign. On a freaking bicycle! When I argued with the cop he felt threatened and charged me with assault. So now I have to pay my mom back for the ticket and the fine that she paid for since I didn't have the money.

Normally, I would just get a job to make money but she's restricted me from a lot of things until I pay her back. I don't have the patience and Jake doesn't mind if I get some from him. His family is loaded with money and no, I don't take advantage of him. I rarely ask for money, this is actually only the second time.

The first was when I had tried pranking someone and ended up having to get stitches. The doctor was a family friend of Jake's so he didn't tell my parents, I just had to pay the medical bills.

Now back to the present.

"What?!" was all I could say.

"You heard me, Kat. I just need you to get me some until I find a new dealer. Mine was.. well.. he moved." Jake looked away before he said the last part.

"What about your druggie friends? Why don't you go ask them?"

Jake let out a small laugh. "They're not really friends, more like frienemies I guess."

It was my turn to let out a laugh, but instead of a little laugh, I let out a loud cackle that made me sound like I was dying.

"What if I get in trouble though? How would you help me out with that? I wouldn't be able to talk to you or anyone else again!"

"Well if you follow the instructions correctly, then you should be fine. I wouldn't make you do this if I knew you would get in trouble." He came closer and put his hands on my shoulders. "Trust me."

The look on his face was what got me. "Fine," I sighed, "What do I do?"

"Good, so when you get to school just head towards the back and find Alex Parker. Ask him for an ounce, pay him and then your good."

"If he goes to our school, why don't you do it?"

"We have a bad past. I don't want to talk about it though, so please don't ask." His face what pained and pleading.

"Okay. When do you need it?"

He smiled widely, obviously satisfied. "Anytime this week is fine, and he has his own prices so it's around 80 dollars but I'll give you the money for it."

"You better, I'm not wasting 80 bucks on that crap." I crossed my arms and sat down on my bed.

"Thank you Kat, I really appreciate it. I'm sorry for putting you through this, but you know me." He sat down next to me and gave me a really tight hug.

"Jake.. can't breathe." He immediately released me and gave me a pat on the head.

"Sorry princess. Want to watch a movie?" He reached for my computer and layed back against the bed.

"You know it. What movie do you have in mind?" I moved to lay next to him. This was a regular thing for us. We would just chill in my room talking about life and watching movies.

"How about Project Almanac?" He clicked on it and pressed play.

"But this movie is lame. Wh-"

He placed his finger on my lips, in an attempt to shut me up.

"Shhhh, I love this movie and I'm going to watch it until I get bored with it and move on to something else."

I pretended to zip my lips and watch the movie. He laughed and turned toward the computer.

Ten minutes into the movie, I got bored and tried finding something else to do. I didn't want to be rude and play on my phone the whole time, so I looked up at Jake.

His blue eyes were focused on the screen. I looked up at his dark brown hair and smiled, remembering the time he died it green and cried about it. Sad part is that was only last year.

I met him about three years ago, right before he turned 16. By then he had already started smoking weed. I don't exactly know how it happened other then what he told me. He said he was at a party and was forced to smoke some. He liked the feeling of being light and worry free so he kept doing it.

I disapproved of it, but when I found out we already became good friends so I couldn't just leave him. He made a promise to me that he'd make sure I wouldn't turn out like him.

I looked back down towards the screen and continued watching the movie until I fell asleep.
