i wrote this awhile ago and, tbh, i don't feel like re-reading it, so sorry if there's mistakes or if it doesn't make much sense <3

disclaimer: about a million plot holes are coming your way, so don't mind those.

i've lived in toronto all 17 years of my life and up until i was 15, crazy happenings were a regular thing.

the house next to mind was constantly filled to the brim with energy coming from three boys. luke, jack, and quinn.

luke and quinn were always sweethearts, whereas the middle one was the devil in disguise.

for some reason, jack had it out for me. he would prank me, trip me, chase me, scare me, and do all the mean things you could think of to me. of course, he would put up the front of an angel whenever an adult was near, so he never got in trouble for anything.

some might consider this bullying but it wasn't quite that.

all throughout the years frustration caused by the boy, there were also positive moments between us. sometimes, we were almost friends.

so i guess you could've considered our relationship at the frenemy status.

but then, they moved away.

they packed up and brought everything with them to michigan, along with the eventful days of my life.

i was sad when they left. quinn and luke were some of my close friends; jack, on the other hand, i had mixed feelings about.

i was sad to see him go but i was also happy that i could finally sleep with both eyes shut.

however, as the days went by without them here, my life adjusted itself to what it was like without them, and it's what i know now.

it's also the reason why i can't believe what my mom is telling me right now.

"kali, they're coming back!"

"mom, what?," i said, not believing what she had just told me.

"well, not forever. luke has a tournament in mississauga and they decided to bring everyone up to visit old friends!" she exclaimed, obviously excited to see her old friends, "they'll be staying here for all of march break after luke's tournament."

"mom!" i couldn't believe what she was telling me,"no, they can't stay here,"

"i don't see why not. with your brother away for school, we have enough room here, plus it's their old neighbourhood, i'm sure they would want to see it again."

i sighed, realizing there was nothing i could do at this point.

"when are they coming?" i said flatly,

"thursday, so in four days!" she happily said, "make sure your room is clean by then, kali."

the week went by slowly knowing that i'd be spending my entire break with jack frickin' hughes.

i didn't dare mentioning it to anyone at school, everyone there is obsessed with their old classmate.

jack was very popular here. he was just so charismatic and everyone loved him for that. though no one knew what kind of hell he could bring.

thursday eventually rolled around.

i made sure to stall after the final bell rang so i could face the wolf in sheep's skin later rather than sooner.

maybe i'm being a little melodramatic. there's no way he can be the same person he was when he was 15. we're two years older, we must be able to act maturely by now.
