have not proofread this in awhile so beware haha

i was getting ready for bed, with luke lying on a mattress on the floor of my room, when suddenly, jack busted through the door.

"kal kal," he started, "i'm coming to school with your tomorrow."

"what? no. what?" i said, confused at his statement.

"why not? i want to see the old gang."

"because you don't go to my school. you can't just go to class with me."

"true, i didn't think of that. can i just drop by for lunch?

"i guess," i sighed unwillingly, wanting to have as much time away from the pesty teenage boy as i could.

"great! come grab me in the parking lot when your lunch starts." he told me.

after he left, i shut off the lights and crawled into bed.

just as i got settled, the memories of jack and i's conversation from earlier entered my mind.

god, how could i have almost forgotten about that!

it was so weird and unlike him.

well, i guess it's been two years. who knows what he's like now.

i still couldn't justify it and the thoughts of our flirty moments wouldn't leave my head.

"luke," i whispered, seeing if he was still awake.

"yeah?"

"do you think that jack has changed much in the last, i don't know, two years?"

"sorry, what? i'm not following,"

"you know what, never mind. goodnight, luke,"

"wait, kal,"

"yeah?"

"don't worry about jack, he knows what he's doing, he's aware."

what in god's name is that supposed to mean?

"luke, what?"

"goodnight, kali. sweet dreams," luke said, with a mischievous tone to his voice.

"no, luke, wait! explain!"

there was no response coming from my floor.

that fucker knew he was being shady and he definitely knows that his words will be floating around in my head for the next while.

——

after three hour-long classes, the lunch bell finally rang and a huge grin spread across my face.

wait, why did i just get so happy at the thought of seeing jack?

i shook off the thought and quickly made my way to my locker to drop off my books, before heading to the front parking lot.

"hey, jack," i said, walking up to his rolled down window.

"hey, kal pal. you ready to show me off to everyone?"

i simply scoffed at that and turned back towards the school, gesturing to him to follow me.

we walked side by side towards the bleachers of the football field, where most of the seniors spent their lunch.

before he left, jack and i had mostly the same group friends. i hated it but he loved it as it gave him more chances to bug me.
