Thomas was shunting in the yards in London when his controller strolled up to him, Thomas thought back through the day if he did anything wrong and looked down at the controller. "GoodMorning Sir" said Thomas, "GoodMorning Thomas" said the controller. "Am I in trouble sir?", the controller laughed, "no, not at all, I've come to tell you that Sir Topham Hatt, the owner of the North Western Railway or the Island Of Sodor, make sure you show how great our E2 tank engines are", "yes sir, of course sir" said Thomas,

Thomas had heard of stories from different engines at the big transfer station, where one of the North Western Railway engines would pull the wild nor wester or the express to the transfer station, barrow and furness, his driver had always told him stories of the island. So Thomas puffed off to a new start of a life where he would be shunting military trains and coaches in the yard to the station and back again, Thomas crossed the bridge where The Island Of Sodor and The London Northern Eastern Railway met.
