Stop Lying To Yourself

*Natsu's POV*

"Are you sure you're okay?" I asked her.

"Why are we here?" She changed the subject.

     Why is she changing the subject? Could it be she's not? I remember Gray telling me that when girls change the subject they have something they don't want us guys to know. What are you thinking, Lucy?

*Lucy's POV*

     He didn't respond for a few minutes. He just stared at me dumbfounded, like it surprised him. Okay, I did change the subject, but I really don't want to talk about it right now. It's a really rough time for me. When I talked to Levy about Natsu she said that he likes me. She said that he wouldn't spend over $20 on a stuffed animal for just anyone. Is she right? Even if she is what do I do? If he asked me out? What about then? I don't think I'm ready for a relationship.. I mean it's not a good time with my dad and just I'm not the dating type. Besides Lissana is so much prettier and so obviously likes him. She can offer him more anyway. I'm then knocked out of my thoughts when he responds.

     "I didn't like Lissana clinging to me," he said.

     "Then why am I here?" I asked.

     "I didn't want to come alone and do you want to be in that awkward situation?" He asked and leaned back on the bench.

     "I guess you have a good point.." I said and got quiet.

     "I have a game tonight. Are you coming?" He asked.

     I just shook my head no. I mean would anyone if they were the one that got hit in the face. If they would they'd probably be crazy or just have that much school spirit. Natsu is probably going to try and convince me, but I still won't go.

     "I guess that's fair. You did get hit last time," is all he said.

    I look over at him a bit in shock. He's not gonna try and persuade me? What happened? Who told him to say that? Or does he think I'm gonna fall for the "she really wants to go so I'm gonna be understanding and let her change her mind herself by admitting she wants to see me play herself" trick? Oh no way Mr. Dragneel! Not this time! I scoff.

     "What was that for?" He looks over at me confused.

     "Oh, nothing I just needed to clear my throat," I say and clear my throat.

     Or is he really just being understanding? I mean I would like to see him play. That's normal for a friend to go watch a friend play right? I TOLD MYSELF I WASN'T GOING TO FALL FOR THIS! What if he's not trying to trick me? Why am I arguing with myself? I sigh.

     "Are you okay?" He asked.

*Natsu's POV*

     I heard Lucy such and looked over at her.

     "Are you okay?" I asked.

     "Yes, I'm fine. It's just been a long day and we're only half way through it," she replied.

     "I hear ya," I say in response and lean back again.
