and she was pluto
small and quiet and content
part of a group of those who were
better and bigger and prettier
than she was, but she was content nonetheless

and she was still pluto
insignificant and strange and mocked
as they realised she didn't belong
grey and worthless and out of the ordinary
she was no longer a planet to them

and she will always be pluto,
shunned and banished and forgetten
a dweller of the darkness
cold and sad and pitiful
orbiting the edge of the universe one her own

she became pluto so that you wouldn't.
