On June 28th Makayla was at cheer practice she was a week over due but she was still helping coach at cheer practices. Bucky was up on the football field at practice once practice was over he came into the gym. He saw her telling one of the girls how to do a flip then she saw her take a deep breathe he walked over to her and placed his hand on her stomach. "You alright baby" he said
"I um yeah just a little uncomfortable." she said
"Baby you suck at lying. You didn't have this face when you felt uncomfortable and I took you to the hospital last week. Baby how far apart are they?' he said
She let out another breathe.. "Mmm maybe like 5 or 6 minutes apart I don't know..I've been trying hold practice." she said
"Baby we need to go.." he said
She looked at him as she had another one "Yeah baby we definitely need to go that's like the 3rd one." he said.
He went over to Coach Jones and said "I'm taking Makayla to the hospital she's in labor."
"Okay Barnes.. I've got practice." Coach Jones said
Bucky helped Makayla get her stuff as the girls all said "Good luck.. call us when he's here."
She kept doing her breathing and he said "That's it baby.. oh god this is happening." as he got them in his truck.
He rushed them to the hospital then got up to labor and delivery. Her doctor came in and said "Baby boy is finally ready to come out.. about time."
They both chuckled as the doctor checked her cervix "Oh yeah we are at about a 6 and half Ms Grey so let's get an epidural started and get you relaxed. Call the family guys we are having us a baby boy today."
Bucky pulled out his cellphone out of his ball shorts pocket and called his mom first then Makayla's mom. "Bucky.." she said through a contraction.
"Yeah baby." he said
"My dad call him.. his number is in my phone." she said
He found her phone in her purse and he called her dad. "Hey Lt Col Grey it's James.. um Makayla wanted me to call you and tell you that she's in labor. We are at the hospital now so um just call us back when you can." he left on his voicemail.
"It was his voicemail." she said
"Yeah baby.. what's wrong?' he said
"Is my mom coming?' she said
"Yeah baby what is it." he said
"My dad has never not answered my phone calls especially after I started to rebuild our relationship after he helped me." she said through pain and she was starting to sweat.
"Shh baby it's okay I'm sure he was just in the middle of a meeting. You know how it goes for Colonels and Lt Cols." he said
About an hour later both of their moms came while Makayla was asleep. "Hey James." Miranda whispered.
"Hi Miranda.. she seemed really upset earlier she tried to call Phillip and it went to voicemail." Bucky said
Miranda looked at him confused and said "That is weird."
Winnie hugged Bucky and said "You doing okay baby?'
"Yeah mom I just I'm scared I don't want to screw him up like dad has done with me. I'm learning a lot in my therapy sessions and it scares me." he said
