I have had a busy schedule and am mad at myself that I didn’t get to go to the club sooner to settle my bill, or maybe I should say to talk to the bartender. It’s Monday and I have had a slow day, so I want to stop by the club for a bit but am having difficulty picking an outfit. I want it to be cute but not too provocative, but yet draw her attention.
Whoa, maybe I should take a chill pill and first really meet the girl before I go choosing the dress to our first date. First date? Am I kidding myself? Maybe she won’t even give me the time of day because of what I did to her. Poor girl has to work two jobs to make ends meet. So, casual brown Capri pants, beige blouse, light brown jacket with matching shoes it is!
It’s about 8:15pm when I make it to the club. I decided to go alone as I do not know how the night will pen out plus Monday is my chill day. Albee wanted to hang out tonight but I had to turn him down, I am a woman with a mission tonight. No distractions. I enter the club and since it is still early, there are not many people here. I find an empty seat at the end of the bar area but the beauty from the other night is not the one serving and my heart sinks…maybe today is her day off! The barman walks over…
Barman: Yes, what can I get you?
Erica: Apple Martini, please!
Barman: Coming right up!
Erica: Thanks (the barman is good looking, but I came here to see the bartender. Where is she? Am looking around but cannot spot her anywhere. Maybe I should ask him)
Barman: Here you go! I hope it’s just the way you like it! Enjoy!
Erica: Thanks, will let you know in a minute! Excuse me, is the lady who serves here with you at the counter working tonight?
Barman: Which lady…there are a couple of them that work here.
Erica: I don’t know her name, but she served me a couple of nights ago (damn, how do I describe her without sounding like an idiot?)
Barman: Sorry, I don’t know who you are asking about. Why, is there a problem?
Erica: Not really…never mind… (as I sip my Appletini – not bad at all) Oh, and this tastes good, thanks.
Barman: Thank you! Be sure to tell my boss that (smiling!)
Erica: I will, just point him out to me (smiling back!)
So am sitting here alone in a bar, sipping on some apple martini, suddenly feeling like a fool because I came to this bar just coz I want to meet some bartender, who I don’t know her name, who probably won’t even give me a second look or even remember me, who is most probably as straight as a shooting star and dating some muscled, jealous guy…why do I do this to myself, always want what I can’t have...Erica, you are some piece of work! (I sigh)
Am so deep into my pity party thoughts staring at my almost-empty glass and thinking that I should just gulp this drink down, call Albee and meet him at the spot he is at, or just call it a night and go back home. I do not notice her walk in.
Barman: Hey, boss lady? You’re looking cute today!
Bartender: Hey Francis, and I told you not to call me that. And don’t I always look cute? (turning around as if modeling outfit)
